Didn't see this posted here, I plan on getting the blue one and UM:
Upcoming KOLD KO's for April/May
Snap, those are what I have been waiting for.
Very cool! Hope daelite will get them into his store so I don't have to deal with KO Toys...
Heh, I just said in another thread that if they made a blue Prime, I'd probably buy it and a KO DIA Commander. Depending on how it looks and costs, I might go for it. Toxitron too, maybe
So, these "KOLD" versions aren't quite as high quality as the CHMS Seekers, correct? Are these the ones whose arm shields crack off easily? Or am I confusing them with a different line of KO's? I'm starting to have trouble keeping them all straight....
Anyhow, if these are acceptable quality I might pick up the Powered Convoy just so I can put it inside the DIA armor suit. I'm already pretty happy with Classics Magnus, and I'd likely pass on Toxiton as it seems at least somewhat likely that G2 Prime will receive that repaint treatment someday (maybe as a store exclusive or through TFCC or something).
I've heard the early KOLD releases (like the gold chrome Prime) had shoddy quality, and at least one person has reported the recent KOLD SG Prime's arm shields breaking. My own hasn't had that issue, but it does have some loose areas and I haven't done much with it to test the quality. The actual plastic seems sturdy, though.
My only KO is the Black Chara Hobby Prime from this mold. Plastic is of lower quality and the face looks a little off. Other then that decent toy. It wasn't a bad experience but I guess the quality did turn me off a little bit from these. Guess I won't ever own a black Chara Hobby Prime. The KO seekers are purportedly alot better in quality.
I might have to get the blue one for my D.I.A. Clone Commander. I might stick with the Prime I currently have, though.
I find the KOLD series to be of excellent quality. The plastic does feel different but not really cheaper....just felt very smooth almost greasy but its not. If that makes any sense. The only problem that's consistently obvious is the smooshy face. The joints on all 3 of mine have been great except one has a loose arm/door. However on both black convoys the left knee was jacked, one was missing it all together and the replacement one was cracked where it meets the leg.
I haven't gotten a KOLD Prime mold yet, I have one on the way though, but from what I can tell they are pretty good quality. Here's a review that Peaugh did for one:
KO Toys Wonderfest Black Convoy
don't tie a string to it and whip it around in circles like a kite and you will be fine...if you want to sit there and transform it back and forth every day...you might have problems...if you want to sit it on a shelf and maybe transform it a few times every so often, just take care with the doors attached to the arms..be careful and you will be fine.
Should I remain hopeful for a legit release of that Blue Convoy?
I'm surprised that the Makers hasn't "exploited" us on that one yet.
Hasbro/Takara haven't ever done a blue Prime with all the -other- Prime molds (except the 2001 Diaclone-colored exclusive re-issue), so why should it be surprising they havent done one with Classics? (not counting "Night Watch Prime" from the Movies as a 'blue Prime' since it has nothin to do with Diaclone)
I'd be more than inclined to snag the Diaclone one. Hopefully Hasbro will see the demand for stuff like this and start doing HTS exclusives.
I've been jonesing for a Diaclone Botcon set for a couple of years now. If only FunPub would seize the moment. If the KO is good quality, I may bite from the guy on the boards selling them. I'll avoid kotoys website if I can. I want to get some of those seekers too, but just can't afford it at the moment. After Botcon, he's gonna get a big order from me.
Toxitron powered commander???? F*ck yeah!!!!!
MEH 2 U, since I'm gonna make it....!!!
There's no way I won't be getting the blue Prime. One of the easiest decisions ever...
