I'm feeling a bit creative/destructive and want to try my hand at some kitbashes, customs and the like. Got some ideas, could be fun. But, I rather like my original collection, don't want to hurt the babies and the damaged ones I have are the only ones of that figure I have...
So, I was wondering what folks knew about the resellers of the knockoffs, who their suppliers might be? I know the gestalt customs are quite common, I see them in those goofy premade Easter baskets at WalMart even. I see eBay resellers with them all the time, including a few others I don't see at the retail level.
They're about perfect, have some of the most basic forms in TF, if I could find the suppliers of these guys I imagine they could be had on the cheap...
So, any ideas on where one might find these?

I dont quite understand what you are talking about. BUt I see you are in Michigan? well if you are in LA Chinatown is the place to go for cheap boots. haggling and what not. Like a 1:1 G1 devastator Ko can be bought for 5 dollars.

I'm looking to see who has the gestalt knock-offs that show up at all the cheap dollar stores and eBay users, preferably one of the suppliers. I found someplace that has the Protectorbots gestalt, like $4 a set, but I'm interested in finding some of the other gestalts or common models.

AAAAAAAAAND, yes Big Lots takes the win.
Fun thing is, with my little publishing company on the books, mebbe I can take advantage of the wholesale offers ^_^ Mebbe I can even tie it into something I'm doing...else, minimum order for wholesale is $500...might some other customs folks out there be interested in picking up some fodder?

Anywho, yea, Big Lots has everything. I mean EVERYTHING.
    - Valkyrie model ala original Jetfire
    - Insecticons (deluxe!), dinobots, and more!
    - "Transformable Robot" kit that has four, looks like a Prime model, Mirage, couple jets
    - "Space Warriors", looks like RiD molds or BM.
    - "Super Robot Warriors", looks like the small Prime from Armada, about six variations, with different cab units ("PRIME FORCE GO!" ^_^)

Its listed in their wholesale catalog, one of the animal varieties, of which there are supposed to be four.
The insecticons are shown, Dinobots are shown (what looks like the Bronto of the bunch doesn't look like Sludge though, and no swoop), and I'd imagine one of the others is the Abominus KO.

*Edit* - On closer inspection, it appears I was wrong about "Jetfire", misjudged how big the package was. Looks more like a Dreadwind mold, and I can make out what looks like a Powermaster accessory.

are you sure the insecticons and dinobots you mentioned arent just the generic transforming dinos and insects that have been floating around stores and easter basket sets for the past decade?

Last time it came up in discussion, I believed the insects were placed as being from the generic (and mostly lame-o) robot toyline Convertors, which duplicated the TF formula of taking robot designs from multiple sources and, aside from SD Valks, really had nothing of note.

Oooo...Just found some cool fodder for such - what do folks know of the "Worlds Smallest Gestalts" KOs, sets of combiner micromasters and small sized gestalts?

there are two types. the most common is what i call half sized.

But it isnt WSTF. Half sized is about as tall as Micromaster Six builder. however the parts are bigger than WSTF. there is a smaller version where each individual part is as tall as WSTF prime.
