Just a small bit of news regarding the KO Prime and it's origins.

I got this in today and decided to open him up ...

and located the stamp on the trailer
    [IMG]

    "Takara COL LTD.
    1980, 1982

    MADE IN FRANCE"

I don't know what the T2 in the hitch means at all. My 1985 original has a "T", but not the 2.

So I am assuming that they have the molds used by either Hasbro in Europe or GIG.

the strange thing is, this is a more true press of G1 Prime than the reissues. All the reissues we have be it TFC's 00 or the TRU from 2002 all have G1's Ultra Magnus wheel pegs.

This is the only Prime pressing to have short wheel pegs, like the ones found on the 84/85 release. Even G2 had a different cab pressing.

Yeah it's an old mold that got into the hands of someone that Hasbro wishes did not. As far as the Re-issue's having the Magnus pegs it saves them from having to have 2 molds.

Looks like the French Mold and the Hasbro US Box Mock-up

So if it's made from a real Prime press.....then it's not really a KO?
Only that Hasbro gets no money......................

Because molds don't come with pre-applied plastic colors and diecast paint?

Guess this begs the question "How was this mold acquired, and what's the legality of it?"

(by legality, I mean was the mold acquired legitimately, not whether the KO itself is legal or not)

Well this info certainly correlates with the differences in the smokestacks (sharp angle at the narrowing). The Red-Foot Prime mold has that same sharper angle.
How far does the launcher slide of the trailer? Only a centimeter or the full length of the slot?

So this seems to be an original Prime mold, but illegally made (the fact that there's a copyright stamp alone makes it illegal afaik)
