I myself own the evil dollar store KO of a dollar store KO black Evasion Prime that Wei Jiang made. such a horrendous piece of junk.

but it's the only way I can thing of to do when looking at Hasbro and saying Damn the man! while shaking my fist in the air in protest.

This all said, and I appreciate that it's Spence saying this, I have to tip my hat to when a company tries to cater to the fandom but does their own thing.

For example, Steelcore. Yes, there's speculation of it's true intent but it came out as Steelcore. A unique character with no history in the TF universe. The female Dinobots, another example.

Furthering this idea, Mayhem Mekanics, an entirely new concept with new characters that can be integrated into your TF universe but aren't Cy-kill, Wreckgar or any other bike bots we've seen.

You want to support third party, support new, original ideas when they come along. Don't be afraid just because it isn't another rendition of Prime or Megatron.

Time to open a new bag of worms.

One of the recurring themes in the 30+pages is that people buy the originals to support the company that made them. That makes sense, but let me describe a scenario.

Let's say person A decides he wants an MP Ramjet. Don't focus on the Ramjet part, I'm only using that as an example. He sees that he can buy the legit Takara version for $170, but instead decides to buy a legit used one for less money. Person B instead decides to go for BB7's superior KO version for even less money.

Going by the anti KO logic, person B is harming the hobby buying the KO, but didn't person A harm the hobby the same way buying a used figure? Takara didn't make any money off that sale, same as in the case of person B. I guess about the only difference between the 2 scenarios is person B is helping the evil KO company. For the sake of argument though, let's assume the guy selling Ramjet to person A is selling it to use the proceeds to buy the KO himself. So now the 2 scenarios are the same.

Is anyone willing to say that buying used toys is just as harmful to the hobby? For the record, I don't believe that, but still the 2 situations do seem to have identical results.

    Careful with this:
I saw a thread a week or so back where people stated that waiting until something goes on clearance to buy something brings harm to the hobby.

That's just a technicality. The example is still the same if I would've included the middle man. Person A still didn't contribute to the retailer who then contributes to Takara.

Glad you said this. That's what people need realize about first party toys (or just about anything). The real consumer to hasbro and Takara is the retailer. End user satisfaction certainly factors in. The real game is selling the retailers. Now who's opinion is more important, ours or Wally worlds?

I wish I got in on this whole thread, it's just too big for me to catch up on right now.

Exactly. The same goes for KO producers. They deal with retailers, not individual consumers.

I'll summarize for you. Some people like KOs, some don't. We learned that Oreos, Lego and I believe Morgan Freeman are KOs. Also, that skullface guy should be a wrestler. I think I covered everything.

This is true. However, it would be hypocritical of me to state that certain, unlicensed items were fine, yet others were not. That would be the position for Hasbro, Takara or the law to clarify.

However, to counter, you could say that these are just hands and feet, which COULD be used for a combiner wars character. The thing is, though, the box art/graphics feature depictions of the original Hasbro toys, even if they are silloettes...

What if I'm at the grocery store and I want to buy eggs. Egglands best is $7, but I'm looking around and I see the publix brand for $4, so by getting the publix version instead, arent I hurting the sales of the name brand company by buying the store brand instead.

But there's so much less posts to invest your hard earned time to read through. You can post your opinion for a lot less of the buy in cost of the original.

I dunno... those publix eggs look a lot like Egglands. People might get confused.

Publix is definitely steeling the egg design
