    Don't care.

What I want is a DVD with only the K.A.R.R. episode(s) on it.

I haven't seen it in any stores. I know the show didn't do all that well, but it always looked at least kind of interesting. I don't have TV hooked up, so I couldn't say for sure, but I would have liked to have seen it at the video shop to rent. Shrugs.

I'd sure like to pick up the newer Knight Rider series on DVD. I never got the chance to catch it on TV, so...

The show only really pulled itself together by the end, and by then it was too late. that said, I'm not sure I'll go for this, because I'd only be interested in the good episodes.

Well, they didn't have much of a choice.
General Motors discontinued the Pontiac Firebird and the Camaro (basically the same cars) in 2002. The show's creators needed a car, and I think they did a good job with the Mustang. The show was sub par but the car was kick ass.

true enough but they could have bought large quanities on the secondary markets, to me making KITT a mustang was an insult

I watched every episode, it was pretty good, I liked that the new KITT was more of a Transformer, he became a car or truck, and changes color too.
Pretty Cool, for TV at least!:thumbs2:

Nothing to add that we didn't go over ad nauseum in the old Knight Rider thread... I enjoyed the show, but think they overestimated what they could do with TV-budget CG. There were quite a few scenes that would have looked tons better with a stunt car.

I liked the show when it was on, but I can't say that I would ever watch it again let alone buy the DVD.

You can say that again. The show was an absolute mess until the end.
I really tried to like the show, but you had to literally turn your brain off to watch it. It was that bad.
I watched it every week but it kept getting worse until the "revamp" then things got progressively better but still not up to par IMO.

When I compare it to a series like Clone Wars that I was not only surprised at how good it was and instantly hooked, Knight Rider was a huge disappointment. It really pains me to say that, but the show sucked. :(

Pass. I refused to watch this show being a faithful GM fan. I was really disgusted with them using a Mustang.

Is this show coming back, or was it canned?

I watched the show off and on -generally liked it but didn't see every episode.
It really became forced fiction though with KITT's various transformations all into Ford vehicles and sometimes for no reason other than to show a Ford vehicle.

Did they ever show how David Hasselhoff was the new Michael Knight's dad?
Was this new KITT even related to the old KITT AI? Why did KITT have to "learn" about people again?

I might pick it up on sale.

The relationship between the Micheals was explained in the pilot. Basically, Hoff knocked up New Mike's mom, and the mom was shuttled off to live in seclusion with her Hoff-spawn, New Mike.

The new KITT was built and programed by the same guy who built and programed the original KITT. The new KITT (KI3T) is a completely separate entity from the original KITT (KI2T). Why they couldn't have transferred some of the original KITT's algorithms over to keep the new KITT from having to learn everything from scratch, I have no idea.

The transforming into different cars all the time did get sort of old, after a while. It was good for the occasional disguise, but didn't always seem necessary. I did find it amusing that his off road form was effectively an update of Attack BEAST, from Team Knight Rider.
