Red is a TAD too light, but otherwise he looks fantastic.

I hate the colors, I assumed it would be black.

Looks decent, but seeing as he's a steam locomotive, I think a darker/more brown/sandy red&blue would have been more appropriate.

 

I like the bright and cheery colours, because it actually makes it look more like a Transformers toy rather than "serious adult collectible with weathering and dry brushing for serious adult collectors". It looks like it fits into our collections, rather than an over-painted odd-man out.

 

True..I generally don't like customs because they are painted so different from regular TF toys (all the way up to the point of Games Workshop level grittiness)..but I think in this case it would have been justified. Or only the plastic colors a different color.

 

I want this repainted in every shade possible. Bring on the Nemesis, Magnus, and anime versions!

 

I'd be digging it more if the wheels & that grill thingy in front wasn't red. Black or dark gray would have preferable. How much is this thing shipped from Robot Kingdom and do these guys make quality stuff?

I have to agree. I'm not a fan of that overly painted detail that seems to be taking over customs lately. Kind of seems to me like some of the guys doing drybrushing are doing it to possibly hide other flaws in their paint jobs

either way I think I'd prefer a black and gold version for the realistic vibe it would give off. Gotta go find this somewhere for pre-order to check the price. I thought it was originally annouced for like hundreds of dollars and you would have to assemble it yourself

To everyone complaining that it's not black:

You ARE aware that many locomotives, especially the very old ones (pre-1900) were painted very brightly, often using bright red?

 

Not something I'm gonna go out of my way to seek out, but it is very impressive! The red look is fantastic on it, very Optimus Prime.

 

Bright and cheery, like the Mickey Mouse Prime!
