i was in a japanese toy shop the other day and saw a kiss play toy. it had a very prowl-looking police car with a different, less humanoid / more gundam-y head, a little girl pulling her dress down, a kremzeek and some weapons. i forgot the name of the toy, but it was something kinda generic like robo officer or something. i had never heard of kiss play until i kept hearing it on wtf@tfw, and seeing it in the store i was a little intrigued. a few questions: are any of these toys actually good? what are people's thoughts on them? should i have bought it? and if i had, given the nature of the content, does that make me a perv? haha just kidding to that last question
He's Autotrooper, I think he uses the alt Jazz's mold so if you like that mold you'll like him. And yes it does make you a perv but it's okay we're all pervs here
Well the Kiss Play toys are (for the transforming cars anyway) all based on the Alternator/Binartech molds, which if you're new to these things, are ragarded by many fans as some of the best TF toys ever. Large-scale fully-licensed car models complete with detailed interiors, opening doors and hoods, etc. etc. that just happen to transform into awesome robots. Honestly, for me the novelty wore off pretty quick, but as I said, many fans consider this line (Well the Alts/BTs, not KP per se) to be THE gold-standard. As for the pervy'ness. You can decide whether you want to display the human figure or bury it in your closet or landfill. You can also decide whether you want to read the comic online or the story synopsis someplace. The (robot) toy itself is in no way perverted. And FRANKLY, while a *little* demented by TF-fiction standards, the Kiss-Play fiction isn't THAT bad. It ENJOYS its pervy-little-self and makes no excuses about it, but its far from being porn-manga. I think if more fans actually read the damned thing instead of squeemishly shouting "OH no! Girls can't kiss robots! And the Magatron-lookin' guy's penis-tongue makes me feel more uncomfortable than Dr. Manhattan!" it wouldn't have the reputation it seems to have acquired. D/L
Its a Japanese police car. Its binaltech with die-cast. Here is the gallery: Autorooper (Autolooper) - Kiss Players - Toy Gallery - Photos 1 - 25 So what more are you interested to know? Perhaps we have the answers.
None of the Kissplay figures have any diecast. Not sure where you are getting your info from. Personally, I have Autotrooper and I love it. All of the Kissplay figures are outstanding toys on their own merit, and if you don't like the packaging or the girl figures that come with them, you don't have to display them or even keep them. All the Kissplay figures also come with transforming weapons, and Autotrooper's is one of the neater ones: he has traffic cones that combine together to form a gatling gun. It's way cool and might be worth a pickup on that alone. Since there are several Autotroopers in the fiction, he also comes with a sticker sheet so that you cam number your own and make it unique.
I love how Takara has a tendency to release toys with army building potential as expensive, limited, hard to find and exclusive toys. - Kiss Players Autorooper - Galaxy Force Noisemaze Production Type - e-Hobby Overcharge - e-Hobby Guardian Robot - Micron Booster Bug Drone
Correct me if I'm wrong but Binaltech Asterisk, which ended Binaltech and kick off-ed the Kiss line with semi-pervy characters, is diecast.
In all fairness, Binaltech Asterisk was an extension/coda to the Binaltech line; I see BT and BTA as related to one another but not related to KP.
That's how I see it as well since they maintained the Binatech Name. I see it as a sub division. Since Kiss Play has a different name I see it as a new line. The BTA's DO have Die-Cast parts.
The three main releases were: Convoy with Melissa (Alternators Prime) Rodimus with Xao Xao (Alternators Hot Rod) Autotrooper with Atari (new character, no faction, using the Mazda RX-8 mold with new head) There were also some exclusive eggbots (sparkbots, I think) and the E-Hobby exclusive Cassette 3-pack of Rosanna, Glit, and Sundor.
No, none of them have diecast. There was also a mini Autotrooper released with an oversized Atari figure.
And just to complete the list... there was an "evil" version of the Atari figure called Atariscream that was a magazine exclusive or something. I was quite disappointed when, upon receiving it, I discovered it was just the repainted Atari doll and did not include a repainted mini Autotrooper.
Didn't mean to say Asterisk was Kissplay. Meant to say it was a transition from Binaltech to Kiss. Binaltech = diecast Binaltech Asterisk = diecast + girly figures Kiss = loli girly figures + plastic Binaltech Asterisk was an attempt to expand the Binaltech line's life in 2005 by adding the figures. Kiss was introduced in 2006 to give Japan two alternators molds that were not available in diecast, the Dodge Ram and Ford GT, with the troop building madza as the third. The diecast dodge nemesis prime was not available until 2007 (Wonderfest). With the resurgence of transformers popularity due to the movie, Binaltech was reintroduced starting with Clear Mirage (no diecast) and then Optimus, Jazz in movie colors, Bluestreak, and Arcee.
