I remember that day, on June 25th, 2009. I was still absorbing ROTF from a day earlier, mulling over my opinions on it...

Then I was flipping the channels, and started watching CNN. Then out of nowhere - BREAKING NEWS.

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, died at 2:something p.m.

While my whole world didn't stop, it certainly popped me in the face a bit. I was very suprised and saddened to hear the news.

The whole world mourned the loss of a pop culture icon.

I thought it was ironic that Jackson died a day after ROTF. My friend told me, "Hey, maybe he died because the movie sucked so hard." I wasn't amused.

Whether you hated him, thought he was a pedophile, thought he was a publicity hogger, or a good dad and a great musician, he's been gone for a whole year today.

So, any thoughts on this anniversary?

Let's keep our negative comments to ourselves today. Out of respect for the King of Pop, and to keep the mods from busting our asses. But let's try to add some of our good 'ol rowdy TFW humor as Derrick J Wyatt called it in here as well, shall we?

EDIT: Eh, go ahead, if you didn't like the man, go ahead and post. Just don't call out and try to start a fight here. We have our own, biased opinions.

Oh yea, it has been a year since his death, hasn't it?

Well, honestly, Michael Jackson and Billy Mays were the most unexpected deaths last year to me.

It was sad indeed. I wish people would let it go though and accept it. Regardless of whatever happened with that whole "pedophile" deal he brought joy to many people. He was also about equality among different ethnicities, that we could all live together peacefully regardless of eachother's race, culture, sexuality etc. I wish a world like that could exist, and it can, but I doubt it will happen in my life time.

R.I.P. Jackson. He's probably up in heaven chilling with the other great music icons like John Lennon, Scatman John, even beethoven :lol

^Along with the above post, Billy Mays death was a shocker. I've never heard anything about him and a coke addiction up to that point. Poor guy.

I remember that day ... I was just chilling with my buds have nerdgasms over ROTF Prime when some chick came and told us he died. I didn't believe this. So later I found out it was true! It was pretty shocked and sad.

Billy Mays was sad (sorta). MJ? Not a single fuck was given by me and the coverage was really annoying and still is anytime his effin family pops up in the media.

^ I appreciate your politeness in the matter. :)

The publicity and constant whoring of it is annoying, I'll give you fellas that.

Bay didnt just kill the Transformers. He killed the whole 80s in one fell swoop.

Also pretty shocking. I was listening to Thriller pretty recently before that happened, so coming home and seeing the news was pretty sad.

I'm not afraid to admit I've been a little disappointed over the past year there's been no RL Thriller moment for Jacko.

Wow, you guys have to complain about ROTF a year after its release, and not even in the movie discussion?

R.I.P Michael Kackson, it seems like it only happened yesterday.

Yeah, I'll admit I'm a bit sad that he passed. But the media needs to give it a rest. I really don't want to see all those disturbing pictures and hear about how his family is trying to sell all the stuff he owns.

Wow, has it really been a year since MJ died?

I like his music, mostly the albums he put out in the 80s. I love the Thriller album.

Farrah Fawcett, of course. Sadly, the media was too busy obsessing over Michael Jackson's death to give a damn about anyone else who wasn't Michael Jackson. The public is so fickle. :(
