Not an MP Collector anymore, but looking real good to me, wonder how it would look opposing the Fans Hobby Monsterbots?

 

Im guessing the concept is to have a wide chest big upper body in robot mode because of the gorilla theme. I'm not sure if I like it though and would much prefer a cleaner looking bot like in the toon.

Also regarding those arms, it would be nice if it could be collapsed somewhat in the plane mode. As is, it is not on par with a masterpiece level 3P tripplechanger. Might be excusable for a 6-changer but not 3-changer especially when it's a headmaster where you already have a detachable part (head) to make transformation easier to design.

The gorilla mode just does not look good. I feel like the advancement in engineering obviously is being shown in that mode but the aesthetics take us back 20 years ago. Something that I expect to see in the toy isle in the 90s if I was to look for a gorilla mecha toy. Maybe that's what others are looking for but somehow it just doesn't hit the right buttons for me.

I just don't see one single winning mode to justify the aesthetic flaws (my personal opinions of course) that I'm seeing in all three modes.

I know I'm knocking it pretty hard. It's all mostly just personal opinions though on the aesthetics. Might still be one amazing toy with fun transformation and great quality materials.

 

Looks really great except for the bot mode face. Eyes are too wide and the mouthplate is too narrow, it looks a bit ridiculous honestly (Snapdragon's looks great though!). If that could be replaced, this would be really close to perfect.

 

I think the heads being a bit off is the only thing I can see wrong for me. Maybe in hand it looks better...

I'd be up for a G1 update set for these guys.

 

Their size is because in the Headmasters anime, every Headmaster is as big as a "leader" character if not taller.

Anyways, I personally dont get whats all the gripe with the face sculpt. Its very good, dudes angry and it shows   Plus its more toy accurate for those that are interested.

the face seems somehow unfinished.

I'm not usually one to shout out "more greebles!!" but the large expanses of flat plain plastic on the chest, shoulders and thighs make it feel unfinished too. YMMV but a bit more CHUG-ish than MP to my eye.
