    Uhh, make that Countdown ><

I stopped by the local junk/hobby store to pick up some Testors paint thinner for another project, and found something interesting. They had a few vintage model kits that were reissued seven years ago on clearance for $5 each. They caught my eye immediately, and inspiration struck.

Behold, my newest in-progress(add it to the never-ending other projects) 'bot!

I hope you're planning on keeping the retro colorscheme--I'm looking forward to seeing the end product!

You are thinking correctly. A bit more chopping, hacking, gluing and cursing the creator of plastic later, that is :)

Truth be told, I was intrigued by the "MP Roller" that came out recently, but wasn't a fan of the pricetag-to-enjoyability ratio. Mixed reviews sealed the bag for me, and I didn't bother to puchase him. When I saw those model kits today, I knew I had my chance to make my own.

I say scrap the moon car wheels and make a Blade Runner Spinner TF.

You're already on the right track.

    Looking forward to seeing more...

You should have bought two. One for Roller, the second for a moon buggy-Countdown counterpart to the Minicon homage/Cybertron Countdown release coming out soon. Can't wait for the final version.

I already snagged two(I needed six wheels), but there's a third waiting for me at the store. You're right, the Countdown homage is too easy.

Small update(but sans pics, sorry): Tonight I managed to find time for this guy. The front end is now segmented so as to fold with the arms and where the hood used to be, allowing Roller to transform properly. Thursday I hope to find the time to work on mounting six wheels in such a way that they can fold out of the way in bot mode. My primary focus will be the rear-most pair of wheels, I'd like them to fold into the hollows on the backs of the Landmine mold's lower legs.

I believe I'm going to use the head from a spare Protoform Prime, but am open to suggestions. I liked the idea for Proto Prime's head, due to the obvious similarity to 'Prime while still remaining a unique sculpt.

    Thoughts?

I like this idea....like, he's a "part" of prime, but still his own being. :thumb

Sounds really promissing! I can't wait to see how this looks when it's done.

    COUNTDOWN.

That is COUNTDOWN, goddamnit, and I will accept it as no other character.

This has the potential to be the awesomest thing ever.

You present quite the convincing argument. It looks as though I may be purchasing the last kit at the store as well, and starting over on Roller from scratch; in the meanwhile...consider this Countdown!

    Oh wow, wake-up call eh?

Well, he's sitting in my to-be-completed pile along with a couple other fellows. He'll be a bit as I have a couple of high profile projects going on as well.

For starters, my giant Devastator that I started over a year ago is in the paint stages. I primed the individual bots yesterday, and am drybrushing them like crazy.

Then my plan is to finally build my fan-based character; Decepticon Silverstreak.

Somewhere in there, Countdown will find a bit of attention.

Thanks for the interest in any case :D
