I stopped by one in Buffalo NY on Friday, and they had closing signs everywhere, and EVERYTHING is 20% off, with no exchanges or returns at any KB stores and the register girl made it sound like all KB's are closing..Has anyone else heard this?

(Not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but..oh well..)

It might just be that particular store. There's one in midtown Manhattan that's also having a sale but there's no mention of a closing.

Originally I thought that, but it seemed odd about the no returns or exchanges in any store, usually that only happens when the chain is closing..

They may have a large ueless overstock perhaps. In times I have seen companies sell overstock that just sits and never sells due to lack of demand at a cheaper price just to be rid of the stock. The company can then bring in new better demanded stock for sale.

The one here in Greeenville NC is not closing and I know the online store is still up and running.

All of mine in my area have closed. I also had a TRU close down. My choices are getting thin.

a few years ago the company was on the verge of bankruptcy and they closed a lot of stores (including the local one I've had for years). They might still be reeling from that. However, my dad said a new one opened up in a different part of town

Yeah random KBs have been closing for a while now...the one we had in the local mall since it was built in 1988 closed two years ago. There's still a KB liquidators oulet in the outlet mall nearby though, but I don't really consider that a 'real' KB's

Like others have said, they really thinned out the number of stores a while back...one of the KBs near me closed, but their are still at least two left that don't show signs of closing any time soon. I suppose, though, that doesn't mean that they wouldn't close more here and there. Kinda sad to see them go, IMO.

They probably won't accept returns because they don't want people buying up scads at the discounted prices, and then trying to return them for full price.

I work for KB Toys in Danbury,CtWe have been getting three trucks a week and the current sale is 25% to 50% off selected merchandise.

The reason the store was closed was it might not been profitable/makeing it's sales goals ?

There are still KBs left? All of the stores around here closed a few years ago at about the same time. I guess I just assumed the entire chain had gone kaput.

Goodebye and good riddance if it's true, KB's been upping their prices more and more. If they just cleared out some of that old stock at discount prices to cut their losses and then got on-board again with newer stuff at competitive prices, I think they'd do a lot better.

I really don't understand why KB ups their prices. Thats the reason they never have business. They're not even considered a specialty store and they up everything by $2-3.

The only time I've bought anything TF related from them is Reissue Sideswipe.

All of the K-Bs I've gone to (Cranberry PA, Erie PA, Hermitage PA, Niles OH) and all of them are open. They look like they need to close, but they're open.

Sucks that you can't return any of the items. o_O ...anywhere.

we surprisingly have one left around here. The ONLY reason I ever walk in there is to look for exclusives.

I sure wish that if Hasbro HAD to do TF related exclusives that they weren't exclusive to KB.
