ok the cd 4 kids is cancelling kamen rider dragon knight and the worst news is they won't be airing the final eps on tv. what is the point of even airing the show if u aren't going to show the whole series. hopefully cartoon network or even nikelodeon will pick it up Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Henshin Justice Unlimited
It wouldn't be the first time they did something like this with a series that wasn't performing as well as they wanted. Probably won't be the last, either.
*looks* Man Im sad. I liked what I had seen while I was out with my broken rib. and just because I feel someone is gonna say it eventually... "ITS ALL DECADE'S FAULT" oh well I still have my beloved Kamen rider W. -seriusly if you like noir, and comedy that show is for you-
Won't it come out on dvd anyway? Then you can somewhat get you're money's worth since you hav'nt watched it all.
Showrunner Steve Wang said that potential DVD distributors were watching the ratings to determine if they wanted to take on the series (LINK). So that's not looking too likely right now It's possible that the Japanese DVDs could have the original English audio, and someone could rip that and torrent it, but that's a lot of ifs... I've already talked about this ad nauseum on other forums, but my overall thoughts are, this really really sucks, but it's not completely unexpected. Despite a good effort and some interesting reworking of the Ryuki elements, mistakes were made that made the show look amateurish at times (mostly on the scripting and pacing end of things). It would've been nice to see if they could improve things with a second series, but we'll never know now. And since it hasn't been mentioned in this thread, Steve Wang and Henshin Justice are claiming that the final 2 episodes will be streamed on 4Kids' website after episode 38 airs. It's not my preferred way of watching the finale, but I have to concede that they didn't have to do this, and it is a small favor to those of us who've stuck with the show. UPDATE: Adness Entertainment released an official statement to the website gaijINside. They say that 4Kids has the option of bringing the show back in the future, but the fact that they're just throwing the finale on the web makes me doubt that. If you ask me, the statement kinda reeks of 4Kids screaming at Adness, "Your fans are threatening us, fix this NOW."
didnt something like this happen with power rangers? oh wait thats rite rpm screwed us over. im really angry at 4kids for this i mean they fuck up anime and now kamen rider FUCK THEM
Honestly, I think the biggest issue was the time slot. I don't think Dragon Knight was a Saturday morning tv show. Had it been on in the evening, I think it would have done significantly better. Unfortunately, the only evening slots for kids shows are on Nick, Disney, and Cartoon Network.
I agree that the time slot was a problem. From what I've seen, 11:30 shows generally aren't the best performers for any of the networks, and I think KRDK did somewhat better for the short time it was on at 10:30, even when pitted against RPM. Hard to say whether it would've done better on another network. Disney/XD/ABC are out for obvious reasons. Maybe the show could've helped CNReal, or maybe it would've just been pulled down with the rest of those shows. And I have no idea what Nick has in the way of action/adventure, so I can't comment on that. I dunno, does SyFy have a kid/teen block? KRDK is about as good as some of their original stuff...
4Kids has posted the remainder of the series a little early: Episode 37: The Enemy Within Episode 38: For Ventara And Earth (part 1) Episode 39: For Ventara And Earth (part 2) Episode 40: A Dragon's Tale
ok so i saw episode 40 so far here are my thoughts and opinions - this was a good clipshow - i saw the whole maya jtc romance since strikes debut - anybody else think that the ending of the episode was open ended? - so technically since eubulon cleared the earth riders memories that means chris never met kit and len. overall good closure to the series. if 4kids does pick kamen rider up again then that would be awesome to see what else lies behind the mirrors!
i think 4kids is going out of business themselves. they just aren't bringing over shows people want to watch. also kamen rider really should of been on adultswim at night time.
I seen it coming, the show was OK, very few moments that got me excited. I wished they would've utilized the monster attacks more. Xavaix's plan didn't seem like much of a big deal when you never seen any of the attacks. It was a good shot though...I got to see the cast and crew in person and they loved what they put together so yeah, kind'a sucks.
I'm not surprised, if they can't even be bothered to finish releasing proper box sets for the 2003 TMNT series what hope does any of 4Kids programs have these days? The only thing they've got going for them it seems is Pokemon... But didn't they get rid of that too?
