I bought on ebay some bootleg of Kabaya model kits. They are pretty good, altough the cheap plastic: it's a paint to paint that... the paint doesn't attach on the surfaces.
Anyway I manage to paint most of them and then sprayed a Games Workshop Purity Seal to (hopefully!) retain paint scratching.

    I did until now:
    Metroplex
    Trypticon
    Nemesis Prime
    Optimus Prime Powermaster

    Metroplex

It does not have full transformation... at least all the three modes.
Looks good in robot mode though. I had to glue the parts over the legs, they wan't stay in their place. Also, removing and putting them in place means a lot of paint scratching :-(

Attack mode is quite as good.

Base mode it's not supported... it's like a wannabe.
Legs wan't open anymore, and the left side of the breast wan't open either.
Right side opens but have no ramp.

    Trypticon

Better than Metroplex, doesn't have full triple transformation, but has the minitank and the little car (not transformable eh...).
Dinosaur mode looks pretty good. The mouth open and close, and the "horn" lowers, but has no cannon on the head.
Funnily, it has the same size of WST Grimlock :)

Attack mode is good, the tank detaches all his pieces and form parts of the transformation. It looks really nice.

Base mode, as for Metroplex, isn't fully supported: the legs wan't open anymore... but it's pretty good, at least for a so small model.

    Nemesis Prime

Originally was a microkit for Optimus Prime Powermaster, cab only.
But I have the whole model kit, and it's quite the same size. So I decided to give him a different look, painting as WST Nemesis Prime.

It was a real pain to paint because metallic colors scratches in a very easy way.
The result isn't so bad however. Keep in mind that it's WST size as you can see in comparison with WST OP

Truck mode looks better IMO, and the rifle attaches behind, where the trailer supposed to. A bit like OP Classics two-pack.

    Optimus Prime Powermaster

    I begin with truck mode.
Both cab and trailer are done well... it's a pain to paint gray parts, because of transformation paint scratches.
I didn't paint the stripes with sybol in the trailer, and didn't put the (horrible) stickers. Maybe later.
Red is original plastic red, same for blue.

Robot mode and base mode are pretty good, nothing to say, except for that damn gray paint that scratches away only looking at it >_<

Super Mode is good too, no problems with that. The powermaster is not transformable, and you can remove it of course.

Having worked with some of these, I can tell you that's about as good as it gets. That soft plastic doesn't take to any paint well.

Those are nice. I like the duller colors on them as opposed to the shiny on originals, make them look more battle damaged.

I like Trypticon, probably the best of the bunch in terms of aesthetics. :)

I wonder if enamel Paint would work (if only as an undercoat)
