he dosent say it is afa gradeble. + he states he cant state the box is real or not.

if anyone buys it its buyers fault for not reading the item description.

I'm sure he knows the box is fake.

I told this guy his Mechabot-1 was a knockoff. I gave him all the information he needed to know to tell a fake from a knockoff and then explained why it's a knockoff. You know what he did instead of changing his auction description? He lowered the price a lot. Like from $1500 to $550. And then someone bought it, thinking it was the real thing. For $550.

So chances are "I cannot guarantee that it is an original." is just code for "someone told me it's a knockoff box, and they're right, but if I told you that, you wouldn't buy it!"

Deceptive auctions like this are horrible. The seller knows what he is selling. He's feigning ignorance so someone will slip up and buy it thinking it is real.

Yeah, you got to love a guide to buying Transformers that is prefaced with something that essentially states "I don't really know anything about collecting Transformers, but here's some information!"

This sucks.... And he's excusing himself and removing his guilt by stating that he doesn't know if the BOX is a KO one, and that the toy itself is 100% original. But there's really no way of checking that, is there? The stamps and copyright info are the same on the KOs as on the real ones, right? On the toys I mean, not the boxes.

It says it comes with a case, not that it was graded by them. The only thing I see wrong is that he says its an original, which it isnt. But he can probably get away with that saying its an original KO.

As mention in my post, the headline isn't entirely accurate - i just said gradeable :) ... but still I don't believe that the seller doesn't know it's a K.O box, and if it is who do you know the toys isn't a K.O either.

Judging from my experience, don't count on it.

Edit--Someone just bought it via a best offer for $300. I messaged the buyer to let him know the box is a fake.

Oh, this d-bag knows what he has. This is at least the 3rd Prime he's sold like this in the last 6 months that I've seen.

EDIT: I suspect the Prime inside is a bootleg in addition to the box. For one, the straight hose, pictured by Spencer in his KO vs Encore Prime review, is something I've never seen with vintage Primes.

Okay, so it says that he doesn't know if the BOX is original or not. However, he says the toy itself is 100% original. For the uninformed, is the toy a KO too, and if so, what gives it away?

There are a couple giveaways for loose KO Optimus Primes:

    1) Red paint flakes easily off of the metal chest

    2) Amateur sticker application of trailer stickers leaving bumps (see part 5 here http://www.kotransformers.com/index..._user_op=view_page&PAGE_id=2&MMN_position=2:2 )

    3) Trailer is difficult to split apart at the top

    4) SOME of them have "Made in France" on the trailer (some real ones do too, but it's pretty rare). More recent Optimus KOs say "Made in Japan", which doesn't help for IDing.

    5) SOME of them are missing the silver waist stripe--But I think more recent versions corrected this.

    6) SOME of them have blue eyes and a blue windshield like New Years Convoy does. (More recent ones have the normal yellow eyes and slightly yellow window.)

I don't see any of those problems on the one he is selling, but those are lousy pictures, so who knows.

    Good News Everyone!

Like Might Gaine, I messaged the buyer and he responded, explaining he got out the transaction. The buyer also forwarded me the sellers response to being confronted about all this. In short, vintagetransformers believes the person contacting his buyers is another seller who sold him a Prime for $1100 that he couldn't get AFA'd. I also must say he was surprisingly cordial about the buyer backing out.

My favorite line is "I am actually having second thoughts about selling these for so cheap" This guy is so full of crap :lol
