You read that right. It's a 26 year old film and I'd never seen it before tonight. Thing is, I was only like 3 when it came out. I can't even remember what I was into at that age. Temple of Doom came out in like '85, but at that point in my life, if it wasn't animated, I didn't want to watch it. By the time I got old enough to want to watch live action films, The Last Crusade was out and I did see it. For some reason, I just never went back to watch the first two.

I've gotta say, for an old movie it was great. Being set in the past means it never really dates itself like some movies ( Here's looking at you TF:TM and BttF ). I actually liked it alot more than I thought I would. I can't wait to get home from work tomorrow to watch Temple of Doom.

Has anybody else ever watched a movie that long after it's release? Did I just set a new record for amount of time between release and when I watched a really popular movie?

I didn't see the original Star Wars trilogy until a couple of years ago. A friend lent me DVD rips of his LaserDiscs.

Kristen (alphie) didn't watch any SW films until Episode 2 was coming out and I made her sit down to watch the first 4.

I only just saw Buckaroo Bonzai a couple of years ago. I've yet to see Blue Thunder, but I'd like to. (I like helocopters.)

Don't bother with Temple of Doom. To say it's the weakest of the three, would be an understatement.

As far as popular movies I still have yet to see, well I've still never seen The Godfather parts 2 or 3.

I just rewathced the Indy series this weekend as a matter of fact (in chronological order, Temple first). Great stuff!

Temple of Doom was the first one I saw, I liked it :p  It's a lot smaller and more personal than Raiders, and has some bits that freaked me out as a kid.

As to films I've seen years after release... Buckaroo Banzai. A friend bought it for me a few years ago for a birthday. He thought it would be really great. After we watched it, we agreed never to speak of it again.

    ditto here.

im curious actually how id feel abt it in the sense, movies like that tap into your inner child (yeah i know, damn hippies) so there was always something special abt it seeing in with innocent eyes as opposed when your more mature.

I'm betting you weren't alive when it came out, so you've only gone as many years as you've been alive without watching it. So how old are you?

Let's see, the first time I saw Wizard of Oz I was 3 or 4, about 40 years after it's first release. The original King Kong, I was 7 or 8, so about 45 years for that. I presume anyone born after me broke those "records" by a long shot.

Never saw the appeal. Isn't the alien just a shaved Elmo with a lite-brite finger anyway?
Quite. This might explain a lot.
