Does it pick up? I'm in the Citadel for the first time getting info dumped on big time. My OCD makes me want to talk to everybody about everything yet I'm starting to get bored.

Please tell me it picks up soon.

    Ebay:
I see ME2 quite often for about $20 at Best Buys and the like.

I've been looking for ME1 myself. Want to see what the fuss is all about...

You should definitely keep playing, the action really kicks up later, and it's a bloody fantastic game, one of my favourites

It does. ME's very much like an RPG. You've got your non-combat down times, wandering a city and talking to people and what not. And then the meat of the game, the actual combat.

You can get it for $5, or $10.00 depending on how you figure your math. Best Buy's current issue of @Gamer magazine has a $15 off coupon for ME2. They sell it for $20 in store (if the store still has it).

I will stick with it. I just want to shoot some more stuff.

I have always wanted to make the time to play these but never quite did. They look really nice and I've heard that actions/decisions you make/take will carry over and influence the next game. On average, how much time does it take to complete a mass effect game? I understand that you probably can't pin it down to a hard number because of the way it's laid out but anybody wanna take a stab at it? Anyway all three of them are definately on the ole bucket list!

I've got about 7 hours into that game, and it hasn't quite picked up for me yet. I find the combat to be clunky and boring, the driving frustratingly awkward, and almost all of the characters completely unlikable.

The first Mass Effect will take you about 20 hours for the story, 24 if you do all the sidequest missions too.

The second one is significantly longer. The main story is around 25 hours, but there are so many sidequests that it can easily surpass 40 hours, especially with all the DLC.

The third one is shorter than the second, but longer than the first. I did everything, did a lot of wandering around, and it took me about 35 hours to beat it, but I heard that others clock in the main story at 25.

I really should buy the first for PC. It's like $10 on Amazon.

My first playthrough of the game took about 16 and a half hours. Mostly stuck to the story missions, but I did complete a few side missions as well.

The first game is good, but I can't help but think that ME2 is a bit better. (Omni shield suit FTW!)

Plus, hacking is tons better in the 2nd game.

I think I am done. Fired it back up for the first time in two weeks and found that after another hour of play I just find this extremely boring. Wasted my money on this one.

It took me a year to beat the first one because I kept getting bored. It's a good game, but it doesn't get exciting and awesome until about halfway through the story (the Virmire mission specifically). After that it's just totally balls out awesome. I recommend you keep playing, but just stick to the primary objectives to get through it faster. After you've beaten it once, and you know what's at stake, you'll probably want to go back and play it again the whole way through doing absolutely everything.

Took me a long time to finish ME2 (I have PS3 so no ME1). I even had to start the game over when my PS3 was corrupted. I say stick with the game no matter how boring it seems to you now. The ME franchise is one of the greatest in gaming (and RPG) ever so I am sure you will love it once you finish.

^Agreed. And like I said earlier, the last few missions/final battle alone are worth the price of admission.

The best way to play ME1: jack the difficulty down to easiest, play as the solider and just shoot the shit out of everything. You should be able to blitz through it then. I loved it but I like talky talky stuff and sci fi, so I get sucked in. ME2 tightened up the combat significantly, but these games are best played with your own imported saves so that it connects you to the narrative in a deeper, more meaningful fashion.

You can download it straight to your xbox, if that's what you're using.
