THE best episode of Beast Wars, and one of the best Transformers stories ever.

 

mech-adrenaline? I can't normally lift a car, but if it fell on my friend, I might be able to...

 

Despite my feelings towards the episode, I am genuinely interested as to why people believe this to be the best puece of transformers fiction. What I would like to know is:

1. What did this story do that is particuarly ground breaking in plot or excecution.

2. What did it do to push the characters beyond anythimg we have had in other stories.

3. Did it havs any bearing (for you) on how the franchise ix viewed.

In most cartoons esp. for kid main characters don't die.
1. this one had a character who was one of my favorites, the bad guy turned good, sacrificing himself because it was the right thing to do and would keep the Maximal side from losing right then and there.

2. this story pushed Dinobot beyond his personal limits trying to stop all the preds. it forced the characters to deal with the death of one of there own in a way that was reminiscent to Optimus in the Movie.

3. Dinobot was a character that I had enjoyed from the beginning and it was unexpected to have him die, which brought a tear to my eye.

 

I completely agree with Dinobot Grimlock.

This is by far one of the ebst episodes ever made in TF's.

 

1. It brought the character full circle. In a way to quote the episode we found out "where [Dinobot] stands" after a good whole first season and most of season two where viewers weren't quite sure if Dinobot's true intention was just to win the war and walk away as the victor, here we saw him give his life for others.

2. Again it brought Dinobot to completion. In the first episode he challenged Megatron, we've seen them fight a few times but nothing like in this episode where it was all or nothing.

3. I think that being a younger fan at the time, I reacted to Dinobot's death the way G1 fans reacted to Prime's death.

I definitely agree with Draven, Code of Hero still stands as one of the greatest TF eps ever. I still get chills with ol' Chopperface's death, and yes it brought his character to a resolution, a tragic one to say the least because he finally realized that BW Megs plans went beyond the limited war the Maxies and Preds were waging.

Dinobot's story is brought full circle just like in all really good storytelling. He's conflicted, but gives his life for others despite his past sins. His is a story of seeking redemption and he finds it in his last stand. Also, unlike Optimus, Dinobot dies and does NOT come back. He's dead, period. And that is not something you see in an North American animated series - ever!

ALL of BW season two is just amazing though (and that includes eps like Transmutate too).
