Great episode. I think this is why anybody whose seen this episode has a harder time identifiying with most of the A/E/C characters. Just doesn't seem as much there.

Code Of Hero is easily the best episode of Transformers fiction ever made.

It really isn't. IMO it's one of the cheesiest. The concept is ok... it was a fitting end to the character's development, but the excecution of the episode in lame. It really reeks of bad fanfic to me.

However, 'Transmutate' is, by my standards, one of the most touching and heartfelt stories in transformers history. It almost has a fairytale like quality to it.

I could even tolerate that gimp silverbolt in that episode.

hmmm... I like transmutates voice... but reflecting upon that I realised it sounds just like F.L.U.D.D from Mario Sunshine.

    Which I hate (the voice)

    I'm confused...

Overall I think Beast Wars had that perfect mix of drama, action and humor. Code of Hero is definatley one of the best episodes for sure!

Transmuta showed that even a sadistic freak like Rampage may actually care for something else rather that cause pain and destruction.

To be honest I think this is what really gave him character. He mpathised with the other sick, twisted freak, a mirror of himself.

'Transmutate' lent fragility and depth to what could have easily been a one dimensional character. Like depth charge (ugh)

I think I burnt out on too many early 90's comics (back when liefeld was making 'great' 'characters' all badass). I really find these kind of characters unappealing. Also black repaints and adding swords to people who'd never use them. It's the lowest common denominator in trying be cool. and the easiest way to fail.

"Transmutate" isn't even in the same league of the greatness that is "Code of Hero."

I'm going to be the voice of dissent here. I thought code of a hero was a bad episode and Dinobot was a terrible character. All he talked about episode after episode was honor, but he switched sides several times. A traitor has no honor. Now, had he realized the error of his ways and the evil of the 'Cons and remained with the Maximals, I would allow him to say that he had honor. However, he switched sides each time, excepting maybe the last, for purely selfish reasons. Hero - not in my opinion. Honorable - again, not in my opinion.

I think the point was to bring his honour and characterize him as a hero because of what he has done. The fact that he's switched side, someone who really didn't know what he wanted, but thought he did at several points during the war. Especially when Dinobot was catching onto Megatron's plan and decided to return the disk to him, until he finally realized that perhaps what he wanted was not to see the glorious success of the Predacons.

It was hinted several times, starting with Coming of the Fuzors, Dinobot knew of his fate. Dinobot knew what was at hand and what would ultimately become of him if he took one path(which was to save the humans) and the uncertain one if he sided with Megatron. I think he realized the other path when he defected in Maximal No More.

In Code of Hero, I think its the fact that Dinobot gives into his realization of his fate and decides to sacrifice all that he once believed in for the greater good. His one bot stand against all odds is what saved the timeline from Megatron's disruption. Perhaps not the classical tragic hero or Emersonian hero, but I'm sure there's a classification for him somewhere lol
