and it was alright. we took our kids (4 and 6) and they really liked it. Some catchy tunes, a little bit of humor and was done in a way that would be reminiscent of the old series I remember...

It had some "updates" but nothing over the top.

A solid 4 out of 5 for the family viewing experience.

Let's be honest, if you could've made tons of cash to star in this movie too, you would've!

I'm not going to see this, but I'd watch it on TV or something, as I willingly give any movie a chance, no matter how much shit others talk about it. I'm the only one that can determine whether or not I'll like a movie, you know?

Team Jetfire, I'm glad you got to enjoy it with your family. That's what it's all about.

I don't see it that way at all. He's the lead in a potential big money maker. Whether it sucks or not, craploads of kids want to see it.

My two year old son keeps repeating the "bow-chicka-wow-wow" scene from the trailer. He laughs every time he sees it.

I have a hunch I'll be taking the kids to this one soon.

So does my 4 year old daughter. Looks like it is appealing to it's intended audience.

Saw it Thursday night. I was better than expected, but my expectations were pretty low. Their version of the song the movie opens with had me thinking, "Hey, that's not horrible at all."

Glad to hear it's not that bad. My wife wants to see this even though we don't have kids yet. She's loves the Chipmunks, and she constantly sings their Christmas song in a perfect Alvin voice around the house. It's rather irritating, actually, and she knows it! :lol  So, I'm sure she'll be dragging me to see this sometime soon. *sigh*

This is what I was thinking for my little girl. Might be a good first movie theatre experience. I'm still tempted to "preview" it before I take her though.

i saw a preview of this with my wife last week...mostly pretty good...a few instances where they update some stuff, but seems more like they are mocking the update....kinda bummed the munks werent child size, but they made it come off pretty good....and the songs were good too...id recommend it for chilluns....

That is exactly how I thought about it. It would be weird if they were child sized..I mean a talking chipmunk is one thing, a gigantic talking chipmunk is just too much...

I didn't much like the franchise... well, ever. It was built around speeding up song recordings to squeaky-up the voice, then slowing them back to normal speed. And the 80s cartoon was goofy. Large humanoid chipmunks and no one thinks it's odd.

At least the film makes them normal chipmunks, which fixes a large part of my problem. Writing original songs would also go a long way to improving things.

My thoughts as well. But it's still a gamble for my wife and me, as our daughter hasn't turned 1 yet. Might take my niece and nephew along as well, since my niece can keep my daughter pretty much entertained if the movie doesn't.
