Just learned to build a shift register

    Know the NYSE stock ticker? That one where the stocks scroll around the side of the building? Yeah, we learned how to build one of those today. :D 

    Okay, not entirely. But we did learn the components that went into one and how to build a basic shifting circuit. If you set up enough shift registers and put in the right data to each "line" of shift registers, you can output images, text, etc., mostly based on how many "lines" of shift registers you have stacked on top of each other.

    I just thought it was really cool and wanted to share. I found it especially neat because it sorta applies to the senior project I'm working on.

    I just left lab. Honestly, just imagine a bunch of lightbulbs in a line and each one lighting up, one after the other. :D 

    @ Hound_Dawg - We re-use a lot of the IC chips over and over again, so technically, not really. However, I've got all the makings to build it again.
