Got up yesterday morning, grabbed my iPod as I walked out the door, plugged it into my car stereo, browsed for music just fine. Got to work, plugged it into my stereo there, browsed for music just fine. Go to use it tonight.....nothing!

My iPod is currently stuck in play mode and I can't get it to go back to the main menu. All other buttons work, it's just like the menu part of the click wheel won't work. However, when I hold it down, the light comes on behind the screen.

So tell me, someone, anyone.....is my iPod FUBAR'd or can I fix it?

with anything electronic, I find turning it off and letting it charge tends to help alot.

Sorry, don't know much about ipods at all.

I don't know if the newer iPods do this, but on my original-gen iPod, you would hold the top and bottom buttons (pause and play I believe) to reset the unit. Try that and see if it works.

Lock it. Unlock it. Press the top and center buttons for 15 seconds and it should reset itself.

That's exactly what I did to mine when mine froze up. I freaked at first, but my bud said try that what TT said (the screen should go black and have the Apple logo on it) works like a charm

If for some reason that doesn't work, hope you are still under warranty. good luck

Yes, do this and it should take care of the problem.

Also, try restoring your iPod, and putting it into forced disk mode and restoring it again, that'll bring it back to it's factory settings and wipe out any software issues in the device.

I have an iPod, works great, never had an issue with it. 98% of all issues are solved with Reset, Restore or Reinstall... has nothing to do with who I work for... *wink wink*

    ...And iPod what?
Reset is a marvellous thing. All iPods freeze occasionally; the first time my old one did I was on a flight to the US, and didn't know about resets (only just gotten the thing), so it was a very dull flight.
Incidentally; if you get any more problems with your iPod, you could do a lot worse than check the Apple forums; when I first bought my 20Gb on eBay earlier this year it wasn't working properly (sad folder icon; usually means there's a HD problem). Looking on the forums I found out how to sort it (the ribbon cable on the HD can work loose over time; take the back off, push it on firmly and voila; working iPod).

There was a time when I would have agreed with you, but the 4GB nano I purchased not too long ago is a very solid piece of hardware. Top notch.

What, a rare problem that has a simple solution that takes 30 seconds to get the unit back to perfect working order?
