So, today I just picked up the Takara re-issue of Megatron.
And my question is, does this differ from the Takara re-issue that has the package which mimics the old box?

And, would it be wise, or smart to open it, and use the decals on my original Megatron?

What would you do if you have a reissue & an original like this?

    Sheesh, why's it so scratchy?

anyway, on topic, I'd say go for it with the decals. Megs looks boring without 'em

Because it's 20+ years old? (the original, not reissue)

    I say open him.

Yeah, I bought the original megs at a convention, which he of course had in a clear container, all jumbled together.
I paid about $100 for it. (Maybe less). I might of gotten ripped, but I was happy to own him.
And then got this re-issue today for $60.
What should I do with the reissue? hmm
If I open 'er up, maybe do a switchero?

So it's fine then to use the decals from the new one on the old?
I don't have plans to ever sell.
I am thinking about having the new one as display, and putting the original in the box.

I would not do that. It would kill the resell value of the reissue. I know you say you'll never sell, but I've said that and been proven wrong. You never know what life will throw at you. If you just want stickers for your old one, go to Reproduction TF symbols and replacement toy symbols - Reprolabels.com and order a set. Leave the reissue set in with the reissue.

    That's my 2ยข.

While I'm all for cracking open the boxes and letting your figs breathe, I do agree that it seems kinda silly to open up your reissue if all you want it for is the stickers. If you wanted to display your reissue with all the new weapons that comes with it, cool, but if it's just the stickers you want, just splash out $16 and get the Reprolabels (which are often considered to be better quality than official ones anyway).

I have the other Takara reissue and that bookstyle version looks to have bonus weapons! At least the mace ball is new, and there may be more, I can't see...

I been reading around, and seems like this one I bought is the best, even though tech. either or is good.
Book style has more gadgest, and most people claim this one is the better quality of the two.

I also read that couple of them had KO's in them. hope mine isn't. Has weight of a legit though.

The only thing which bothers me is all pics I see of the bookstyle, the gun and package is reversed of the one I have. (notice the other side of the gun shows, where P-38 is kinda hidden) vs the other which shows the otherside.

Reprolables. Best thing in situations like this. I use them all the time, they ship fast and their decals seem to adhere better.
