Progressive scan makes your picture look better on an HDTV. If you don't have an HDTV progressive scan won't work for you. Hmm. Games I play most on my Wii... I guess I play lightgun games on it, House of the Dead Overkill is funny and fun, got the new Resident evil one too, and having a decent enough time (unless I'm throwing up or having an epileptic fit from all that camera shake). I also regularly play GC Beach Spikers, its a beach volleyball game, and to my knowledge, the best there has ever been on any system. If any game needs a next gen update, its this one.
Super Mario Galaxy Super Smash Bros. Brawl Metroid Prime 3: Corruption New Super Mario Bros. Wii (wait...you do have that, my bad ) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Mario Party 8 Wario Land: Shake It! I actually wouldn't recommend Mario Kart Wii, but that's probably because I keep getting hit with red shells in single-player mode. But that's just me.
I also got a Wii for Christmas, and will be downloading Final Fantasy IV - The After Years. 10 more minutes and I can leave work and do that.
Anyone wanna hook up for a game of Mario Kart online. I am looking to add some friends on mine to play Mario Kart even though I've had mine for 2yrs. If you wanna play online with Mario Kart let me know cause I wanna play.
Woke up today with a sore back, shoulders and arms. All of a sudden realized that the Wii was inadvertanly making me excersise! I'm not fat or anything, but I don't excersise on a regular basis. The boxing and baseball kicked my ass! I went looking for a 2nd controller and the new Mario game tonight but all the Wal-Marts were sold out That Final Fantasy game looks tempting too
If your good with "conversions" you should look into "adapting" it to play your already owned perfectly legal old video games.
Must Buys Period: Mario Galaxy Metroid Prime Trilogy (3 for 1 Booyah) Super Smash Brothers Brawl Must Buys if you don't already have them already on the cube: Zelda: Twilight Princess Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition Must Download: Megaman 9 Sin & Punishment I personally Recommend: Sonic and the Secret Rings Sonic and the Black Knight Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles Wii Sports Resort Games for Cheap Bastards that are also fun: House of the Dead 2&3 Return (2 for 1 and in bargain bins) Nights Journey of Dreams (Can probably get it for less than $10) Metal Slug Anthology (6 games for the price of 1) No More Heroes (It's bargain bin now) Also get yourself some component cables.
I have to go with: - Mario Galaxy - Twilight Princess (one of my favorite Zelda games) - Okami (incredibly good game, but boss fights are easy) - Metroid Trilogy (All three were great, and this is 3 games in 1) - Mario Kart (very similar to Double Dash but still worth it, a lot of characters to unlock) - Super Paper Mario - NSMB (easy, but it's replay value comes from multi-player fun) - Zack and Wiki (great puzzle game) - Deadly Creatures - Wii Sports Resort - Ghostbusters (great game with great voice-acting, but this is where I wish I had a Xbox/PS3 for the graphic upgrade; plus you get to fight a giant Slor, a giant SLOR!) - I also picked up a cheap Link's Crossbow Training with the zapper accessory on ebay, and I think I might get Resident Evil: Shadow Chronicles - And I'm going to pick up that EA Personal Trainer to get some exercise. And I still need to download Mega Man 9. There are hundreds of great old school games to download for cheap too.
You wanna talk about sore, go rent/buy the game Boom Blocks. It's a really easy game but it's pretty addicting and really fun on multiplayer. There's a lot of swinging going on, my right arm was sore for a week the first time I played it.
Virtual Console is a game downloading service that let's you enjoy old games through your wii. There are numerous NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, and other console games that you can download for $5-$10. Friend codes is something you exchange with people so that you can keep track of friends playing games online. It also allows you to chat with them thru Wii Speak. Friend Codes have been heavily criticized for hampering the impromptu "friending" of other gamers, a la xbox live. My list is only based on what I've actually played, but I'd echo the sentiments of most people above: -super mario galaxy -smash brawl -mad world (not family friendly) -no more heroes (not family friendly) -ssx blurr (pretty legit snowboarding game) -conduit only if you need a first person shooter to go online with (and even then it's not that great) -only if you're a sonic fan (like me), pick up secret rings and sonic unleashed. both pale in comparison to older 3d sonic games though -okami is a beautiful adventure title that makes great use of the remote to literally paint objects into the game the great thing about wii is that it's backwards compatible with the game cube so you can pick up gc titles if you can find them. i'd suggest: -gun (a western GTA type open-world game with a great story) -freedom fighters (the soviets have won the cold war, and you lead the resistance)
Has anyone played that Final Fantasy game? I've been curious, but it got panned by reviews, but that doesn't always stop me.
Of the games I've played, I'll mostly reinforce other recommendations here... Super Mario Galaxy Zelda Twilight Princess Super Smash Bros Brawl Wii Sports Resort MadWorld Zack & Wiki Metroid Prime Trilogy (based on loving Prime 1 and 2 on Gamecube) Okami (If you like Zelda, it's must-have) To throw one in that's gone totally unsaid, Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Awesome side-scrolling action title, very stylish and incredibly detailed 2D game. You play as a ninja (like actual ninja, not Naruto ninja) so there's tons of swordplay, though no motion control for it. But you can execute a lot of moves and there's a ton of swords with different strengths and abilities to collect, and the fights get intense, taking on huge bosses and multiple enemies at once. And yeah, it's sprite-based 2D but the graphics are so fluid it looks like a cartoon rather than a video game and everything's detailed, to an honestly shocking detail. All around awesome game.
Haven't seen it posted, if you have some kind of spike electricity wise, your Wii will not let you turn it back on unless you unplug it for five minutes or so. Old place I used to live at would have a spike whenever the central air would kick on. First time it happened, about two weeks after getting the Wii, I thought one of the kids killed it. >.< And before anyone says anything, yes it is plugged into a surge protector. I also had a problem getting the Wireless to connect with my router. I kept doing the exact same thing for two hours before it finally connected. Chuck
Yeah that happened to my Wii and I freaked out. I thought it had Wii-Ring of Deathed, but I checked Nintendo's website and it explained about the 5 minutes. Something that should be made more obvious.
technically no. but there are 'homebrew' modifications you can make in order to make the wii play dvds. however, nintendo has been cracking down on mods to the console. someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but if you update and nintendo detects that your wii has been modified, they crash your system. (i think)
super mario galaxy super paper mario twilight princess new super mario bros okami wii sports resort mario kart wii wario ware smooth moves all of these games are awesome
