If you're asking about bringing your own with you from home and taking pictures of Wal-mart inventory then leaving, then no it shouldn't trigger the alarm.

The alarms are from RFID tags on the products.

It does trigger the aisle-side pepper spray and nut tasers however...

I've heard that it's severely frowned upon to take pictures in the stores, though. Anyone have any confirmation of this?

True. When I've worked retail, we were told not to allow picture taking on premises, as it could be corporate spywork. Even when I was cross-promoting movies with local businesses, there were a few that didn't really like me taking pictures of their stores. And one of my fellow managers once got chased down by mall secuirty for taking photos because they thought he was teh terrorrisst.

From all the times that I did the sightings pics (PR & TF), I used a Digital Camera (HP Megapixels 8.0) and Toys-R-Us/Target/Walmart/Meijer didn't care at all in the sense of, no one said anything or was bothered so I say, go ahead, but if you wish to check with the store that you are at, I can't blame you there. :)

*I would take a picture of my camera, but I would need another Camera. :)

    I wouldn't do it.

A friend and I were almost kicked out of the mall ("for security reasons") when he was taking pictures for a class project.

Most stores are fine with it if you take a few pics then leave but if you take any pics of the cameras/security features they dont like it.

A camcorder a a major nono in most if not all stores though.

In Regards To Me Using My Camera In Stores.

Personally, I never did in a mall...just usually retail based stores and to my knowledge, there was no times where it was a problem.

(This is my view on the matter.)

Malls are dicks about it. I got thrown out of a Suncoast for it... (Well perhaps it was my cussing out the manager of the store and refusing to delete the photo I took and telling him if he called security I'd watch while they sodomized him with their nightsticks...)

    How edgey of you =^^=

Though I agree, mall cops are generally pretty dickish.

It wasn't edgy it was embarrassing, uncalled for, loud, and immature. It didn't do any good other than to make me feel better at being bitched at by mall douche.
