I'm finally headed to Vegas for the first time next month. Staying at the Luxor from a Friday to a Monday. Any suggestions or advice on what to do/not to do while I'm there would be very helpful!

    Drink. Heavily.

Other than that, the Las Vegas Gun Club? The neon graveyard maybe?

How about visiting the UVTC? We are all grown men that play with toys. It's awesome. ;D

Some real advice. Go see Cirque du Soleil-KA. It is in the MGM and it is amazing. I've seen KA, Mystere and the Blue Man Group. My girlfriend went to Phantom of the Opera without me and she loved that as well. All are entertaining, but KA is the best in my opinion. I am going to make it a point to see Zumanity next year when I am there (that's the sexy one FYI).

Other than that, walk down to see the fountains at the Bellagio, they go ever 15 mins, and if you aren't opposed to a longer walk, go watch the Sirens show at Treasure Island. If you go at night, it will be cooler temperature-wise, the lights on the Strip will be on and all of the weirdos will be out. Win win win.

I heard that the Beattles one is the one to see. That or O. I saw KA when it was in NY. It was pretty impressive. Ovo was great too.

I think I am getting burnt on the Cirque stuff though.

Cirque Love was the first one I saw. But Zumanity is still my favorite.

    Yes, I do have plenty.

For travel use the bus system. You can get a day pass for $7. If you ride more than 3 times, it's paid for itself. The Deuce goes from the downtown transit center to the hotels on the strip. It's a fun way to travel.

Las Vegas Pinball Hall of Fame Pinball Museum, Nevada NV, Tim Arnold
If you like pinball, you MUST go here. Not only can you look at the games, but you can play them as well. As an added bonus, all the money collected from the machines goes to charity. It's right on the 201 bus line, about 2 blocks west of the Liberace Museum (yes there is one).

    Fremont Street Experience
On Fremont st. in old downtown. Every hour, on the hour at night, there's a light show on the world's biggest tv. It's 4 blocks long! They also have free concerts every night. There have even been some big names there playing free shows. This summer the theme is Rock of Vegas.

Along with that, there's numerous casinos along Fremont St. If you want a cheep beer, go to the Fremont Hotel & Casino. They had $2 Carona and Heineken beers. The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino had 50 cent Hamm's taps, but they were out when I was there. You can also find cheep games during the day. There were $3 minimum Blackjack tables to be had during the day time, but at night, the minimum was $5. Along with all of this, at Binion's you can get your picture taken with a million dollars. It's free for the picture, but a tip is appreciated for the picture.

When you are playing games, you can get free drinks, but VERY IMPORTANT, tip the waitress. A dollar is fine. If you don't, you might be cut off. Also if you win at a table game, tip the dealer/game runner.

Prostitution - While legal in most of the State, it's illegal in Clark County, and Las Vegas. Be warned.

Lots of shows to see. I wanted to see Penn and Teller at the Rio when I was there a month ago, but couldn't find time to do it. I plan on doing it the next time I go there next summer for my 40th. Penn & Teller

The Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam aren't far away. There are tours to go see them. It would take up a whole day, though.

Food - If you look, you can find deals. If you get the casino card, deals for food open up. If you go to a casino, get their card. It's free to do so.

    Stratosphere - http://www.stratospherehotel.com/

You've got to go to the top of the tower. It's an amazing view of the city. The cost is $18, but well worth it. Rides are extra, including the tower jump ride, where you jump off the tower.

Depends, you got money to burn or on limited income? What are you into? Clubs, shows, strip clubs, food? Try a seafood buffet (M off strip or Rio are fan faves) at least once. It's going to be HOT in Sept (talking over 100 degrees) so best to stay indoors but maybe you're use to it since it gets pretty hot in TX too.

Good points - $ will be somewhat limited, which is why I'm trying to plan ahead. As far as the weather goes, yeah I'm prepared for that. I think Vegas runs about 10 degrees hotter than TX on avg, and is a dryer heat from what I've heard, so "lots of water" seems to be the idea.

    Check.

Definitely seeing the Bellagio fountains while I'm there.

Thanks man, that was all helpful. I've gambled before, so I feel pretty comfortable about the tipping scene and how that works. Definitely sounds like the tower will be a stop as well.

Another question for those familiar with LV: along the Strip at night, what's the scene like? I was considering taking my DSLR and walking around to take pictures. People have mentioned "weirdos" and "pickpockets", which aren't a big deal on my own, but carrying around a nice camera is another story. Any thoughts?

If a lady asks you if you want a fellatio......think about it for a minute. If she looks 10 years more than your age, say no. If not, say yes. Also ask for her rates.

I've never been on The Strip at night. Just keep a close eye on your camera, and wallet. I'd advise that for anywhere you travel in the city. They got rid of the card flickers, on The Strip, when I was last there. It was a great improvement. They were so annoying.

I would take a bait wallet, (wallet with expired credit cards and like 10.00) When I was there about a month about the card flickers were still out and about.. :(
