i wish takara would make the the cybertronian version of laserbeak looked kind of cool in g1 style of course since they making reissues, i am sure the could come out with this type of viarent

so? it's not like it would take anything extra to make the generic lamp post out of the tapedeck alt mode, it's been done in radicons a few times

 

FWIW, in Dreamwave's War Within comics, Optimus (then "Optromix") worked as an archivist with large storage devices that looked like the standard cassettes, yet bigger. Presumably player devices existed too.

Just a fanwank, admittedly, but still canon - within Dreamwave stuff anyway.

 

Already made that as a custom.
