I hadn't realized this was out already. I think the book "street date" is the 25th. So... reading now.

I'm eating the Chop Suey now.

As for some details in the first few chapters...

Starts with the Autobots launching the Ark on Cybertron. Optimus watches it launch from Cybertron, so this isn't the Ark we know from the book prequels, it's another Ark. It gets intercepted by Decepticons, spins out and crashes. Lands on the moon in 1961. Radar operators spot it and tell the President, who orders that we land on the moon in this decade. Once the Eagle lands they go "dark" in communications for several minutes and carry out an operation to check out the crash site for the government. Switch to current day where Sam is getting redy for a new job, he's dating Carly off the bat, met her when getting a medal from the president for helping the Autobots in the last movie. He has to robot pets... Wheelie and Brains, who he keeps like dogs in the back yard.

From there we switch to NEST investigating Chernobyl with Optimus Prime and Ratchet. They discover something Cybertronian from the soviet space program deep in a reactor, they they are attacked by a Cybertronian ""Driller" being driven by Shockwave. Optimus's trailer becomes a battlestation and he gets a shield from it. Shockwave bores away on the driller. Optimus recognized the Cybertronian part from the reactor as part of an engine part from the lost ship.

Oh, and this book says NEST stands for Nonbiological Extraterrestrial Species Treaty.

A clue to the Decepticon's plan:

If ROTF was a ripoff of Changing Gears, then DOTM ripped off from The Ultimate Doom. There is also a bit taken from Atlantis Arise! involving Megatron and a certain memorial to a US president.

The only artwork besides the cover are some a couple color pages in the middle of the book of the main characters standing in their promotional poses, in front of Cybertronian glyphs. Nothing actually new.

Oh, the big fight near the end...

Optimus is fighting Sentinel, when Carly convinces Megatron that is Sentinel wins Megatron will end up being his servent. So Megatron joins Prime in defeating Sentinel. Sentinel gets shot in the chest with his own "cosmic rust" blaster. And Megatron call Optimus "brother" again.

its a good ending. hope it's good in the movie as well. ROTF had a better book ending than the movie did.

Megatron blows up Abraham Lincoln and sits in his chair in Washington DC. :p

Also I got some stuff from the Junior novel to share as well leaving off from where Scaleface posted. Gonna be a big post.

Sam is in an interview with Bruce Brazzo who on recommendation from Dylan who is on their board hires Sam to deliver mail to staff. This irritates Sam but he takes the job anyways.

He goes to Dylan's investment firm where he keeps all his cars to tell Carly about the new job. This is the scene we saw released recently. Carly leaves with Sam and then at the secret NEST base in DC.

Optimus Prime is royally pissed off. Seriously:

"When the humans and autobots formed an alliance, part of the agreement had been complete honesty between the two species. The autobots told the humans everything they needed to know about the history of the transformers, and the humans promised to tell the autobots everything they knew about past contact with alien life.

The Autobots lived up to their end of the bargain; the humans had not. Optimus knew he had been lied to, and he was furious."

Optimus confronts Mearings about being lied to. The fuel cell retrieved from Chernobyl sits on a pedestal. Optimus transforms after Mearings makes a snide remark "What is this, the alien silent treatment?".

^This was obviously the shot you see in the animated arch of transformers shots at the Cannes film festival where you could see optimus transforming a little.

Then he gets right in her face and shouts "You lied to us!" before kicking the pedestal making the fuel cell drop to the ground at Mearing's feet.

Then after optimus is reassured by mearings that they knew nothing of the fuel cell 3 men and buzz Aldrin approach, Buzz is giving optimus this look of both reverence and camaraderie.

Buzz walked straight up to optimus "From a fellow space explorer to another: Its an honor" Aldrin says.

"The honor is mine" Optimus replies. then the line about the entire space race being in response to the event being the ark crashing on the moon that got caught by radar. The Soviets were first to land probes on the moon and somehow were able to take one of the fuel rods back.

They watched old tapes of Soviet scientists screwing around with the fuel cell, trying to tap its power which caused the Chernobyl incident we know of today that irradiated Pripyat.

Buzz tells him about how they searched mostly the whole ship except the crash vault optimus had brought up in question. Explaining that in it is likely the technology Sentinel Prime was transporting.

Then optimus warns them cryptically that if they don't launch another moon mission for him to retrieve the technology or the earth will be in extreme peril.

Also Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave are hanging out in a Namibian savannah. Megatron sat in a sheltered clearing to rest. Starscream arrives and subtly belittles megatron for being so weak.
" My brave and wise master! Starscream heeds your call! It pains me to see you so wounded, so helpless, so weak...."

Megatron looks at Starscream with a warning in his eyes.

"No harm meant, my lord." Starscream grovels.
"Its an excellent strategy: hiding! Hiding and scheming. Its going very well!"

"Silence you insipid fool" roared megatron. "You know what you are told, which is nothing. While I lay prisoner here those many years, beneath their wretched dam, soundwave was watching over the planet. Perhaps you know of a ship call the ark....

Seemingly from out of nowhere as if on cue, Soundwave enters the camp. Laserbeak lands on his shoulder with a sadistic purr.
"It has been found, lord megatron. By the autobots." Reported Soundwave.

"Then let the Autobots do the work for us. Let them bring the ship's cargo to me" Megatron gazed up at the full moon, rising into the African sky. "And as far as your 'human collaborators' Soundwave, it is time to ensure their silence.

i take it there is never any mention of the superfund truck as no one ever talks about it who has read the novel.

Not in the slightest. I'm pretty sure the Superfund truck was added to the story later on.

There is a "hidden message" in the book. Seems the exclusive artwork has the names of the characters on them, then under the letters are cybertronian glyphs. Also, over each chapter mark is a glyph. If you translate the glyphs for all the chapters it spells " MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE..." or Drink you ovaltine, one of those two.

Chapter 7 - Optimus and Ratchet go to the moon, recover Sentinel and 5 pillars from the moon, but bring back 3 decepticon stowaways.

Chapter 8 - Sam works his new job delivering office mai. Crazy Jerry Wang tries to contact him. Jerry's computer is Laserbeak in disguise, chases Sam. Sam runs away, grabs Wheelie, Brains and Carly and heads to the local undercover NEST headquarters, where Bumblebee is.

Origin of the Wreckers and Sideswipe:

An Autobot ship called the Xantium landed on earth about 5 years ago, containing the second wave of Autobot refugees, like Sideswipe. NASA kept the ship, and they kept the Wreckers, Roadbuster, Topspin and Leadfoot, never let them off base bacause they're "not very nice."

What about wheeljack, Mirage and brains, do they explain where they come from? Assuming they don't mention the events of rising storm and foundation
