You know for a while I've been thinking this faceplate looks G-1 ish, (or at least more like toy sculpts pre-movie) Anyway,,,, I was kinda hoping/expecting the trailer to be dubbed. Henshin!
for all you guys who like to save stuff like me, here's the download link for the jap trailer, i used flashget (download manager) to download it: mms://station.streaming-tv.net/ul/transformers/tokuho2_300k.wmv also there's the teaser available for download: mms://station.streaming-tv.net/ul/transformers/trailer1_300k.wmv
Well, for those who didn't think that the new TF faces would be able to handle emotion well, it looks like at the very least Bumblebee can-- he looks decidedly ticked off in that new shot...
Here, most movies get released to the theaters subbed, unless it's "family movies" like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and the like ... those are presented both subbed and dubbed. Kids movies (Disney/Pixar and the like) are just shown dubbed. IMHO, I prefer to watch any form of entertainment in its original language, be it english, japanese or whatever. I don't mind reading subtitles. So: - Transformers: in english. - Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: in chinese. - Saint Seiya: The Hades Chapter: in japanese. Well ... clearly you haven't been to "most other countries." Neither have I ... but I can speak for Venezuela, Mexico and Japan. In all three countries - Japan in particular - a very, VERY small percentage of the population even understands some english ... much less when it's fluid like in a movie. When I went to Japan in '01, the only place where we found english-speaking japanese was in Tokyo's Hard Rock Cafe. We also found 1 spanish speaking japanese in a hotel and 1 spanish speaking korean in a restaurant. That was it for 3 whole weeks. Here in Venezuela, I'd say that close to 50% of the people in my workplace speak english ... but outside of technical environments like this one (I work in a telecom company), almost no one understands english, even though English is an obligatory subject in High School (but how many of you speak fluent spanish or french from your High School courses?) -airfox
In Japan, they teach English as a core requirement...which doesnt necessarily translate to them all being able to speak/understand it well. I took 4 years of Latin in HS, and I couldnt tell you more then a few words of it these days. Wait, WHAT? Have you even READ the original War of the Worlds? It was a LOUSY update of the original book and had much more in common with the 1950's movie. And unlike the 1950's movie, which also had little to do with the original book besides a couple concepts, it didnt have as cool a looking alien war machine.
in the book they were tripod type things though. but the film still sucked. especially when his son goes over that ridge and everything blows up but hey - he's ok in the end. back on topic. not much more in that trailer really. still dont think it will be a great film though. we'll see
Because some people aren't aware that there was also a Scorponok in G1, I guess. He resembles BW Scorponok more in size, too.
The overall aesthetic I get from him would have to be BW Scorponok. G1 was a huge guy, a dreadnought, Energon was something in the same vein. BW, like this one, had that smaller, more agile look to them. They look less like tanks and more like infiltration and sabotage (at least, that's the vibe I get from both designs. Of course, neither of them actually did / do that!)
I cant really understand why they just didnt use the same transformation for Movie Scorp they used for BW Scorp? Maybe there will be more than figure.. and I can hope for that ; ) ; ) Hasbro!
Yeah that was one of the things that burnt me the most in that movie. It was like let's go for the Super happy ending, Doh! Oh and as for the teaser, I wonder if the are going to do anything more to the Allspark cube, like make it glow or change.
Hey in the picture with Prime you can see bright lights, hologen looking, coming from behind Ratchet. I think that might be Ironhide and his big monster truck lights.
I wonder if steve & mike know that the jap's will be the hardest fans to bring over to the G1................ that's not so G1?
They can always dubb in Megan Fox's voice with a preteen girl's voice and they got the Japanese fans in their pocket.
If you're talking about the small japanese TF fanbase (well small compared to the US fanbase), they might be glad there's a TF at all. And american TF too, which they seem to like better than home-grown attempts at TF storytelling.
So ... you had to quote my entire post just to say this: This reminds me of a joke about the Queen of England and 97% of americans. -airfox
