CHUD reported last month that Voight would return as SecDef Keller.

Now Voight himself claims that he's not in Transformers 2, but instead plays a villain on 24.

Huh.

 

that is funky...because 24 is one whole season ahead on filming since nothing aired this year...so why they would be filming a 2nd season already when we have not even started the airing of the current filmed one is whack....

 

shame, I liked his character but hes in no way essential to any of the plot, if I was the age of his character in the 1st movie I'd have retired after nearly getting killed by giant robots.

 

I'm glad I really didnt think he was good in the first one which is funny because he's usually a pretty good actor though recently his performances have not been what they used to be.

 

Jon Voight's a good actor and all and I like him, but I think they have enough humans in the movie as is. It's just one less to take away screentime from the giant robots.

 

24 isn't a whole season ahead. They only shot some of the season that hasn't aired yet.

Awesome news! Voight is a big name actor and commands a big salary. So him not being in the movie means more money for other things - like CGIs for more robots and more robot screen time.

Also, it means one less group from the previous movie (the Government angle) so it will streamline and simplify the plot a lot more.

This is great news! With the removal of the Hacker element and the Government element, you are basically left with 4 elements:

Parents/Professors/School environment
Sam and Mikaela
Soldiers
S7

As the first one isn't really going to have much of development (hopefully) this is a lot better number of cast groups.

 

He really did very little for the plot. So no big loss.

  I liked his bits, especially when him and Simmons were all excited at the Allspark trick BB pulled.

 

No biggie. He was stiffer than a board in TF1  

 

Well, no big lost or anything. He just doesn't show up in the movie this time. No biggie.... 

 

they only filmed the first 6 or 8 eps before the writers strike happened, so that would have left plenty of time to get Jon on board for the new season.

 

Pretty sure that was John Turturro (Simmons).

 

Shame, I quite liked his character.

Of course that's one page of basically everyone posting the same thing ("He wasn't that big a deal" etc etc) so maybe that doesn't count.

(P.S. Let's not forget that Voight being in the first film at all lent a LOT of credibility to the Transformers franchise to those outside of the fandom.)

Sadly, as great of an actor as he can be, he won't be missed. Mainly because his character was as useless as Jazz in the first one. Damn shame too as him being some sort of liason between the US Gov't and the Transformers would have been pretty cool.

Hope we get more pee gags!

 

um..yeah they are...they interviewed the writers of 24 and it was stated that they had too much filmed to air what was left in the broadcasting season without dragging it into summer.....summer being july,august months....

so if you have not broadcast anything this season...and you have filmed a whole season then you are ahead one whole season...so it would be strange that you would be filming season 2 already....
