I don't think they'd bother mentioning a toy for him at all if that were the case

 

personally i think it looks like drift.

 

We've seen very few glimpses of Smokescreen appearing in the series, how can we be sure his CGI model isn't a retool of Knockout? Hopefully it isn't but either way, all the signs point directly to Smokescreen.

 

It's a cheap retool to get out money, no doubt.

 

A) How can a retool be "cheap"?
B) The entire point of retools is to recoup development costs, so yeah.

Also, how can we be sure his model's not a modified Knock Out? There are a few reasons, one being that we have eyes.

I recall Smokescreen was also slated to die in the first few episodes of Prime, before he was replaced by Cliffjumpter. So maybe he won't last that long.

It may be hard to get new characters in Prime, but I think the Decepticons are getting kicked around too much. Maybe this is a misdirection by the writers to who's truly going to be added into the cast. Maybe?

 

Smokescreen is basically a remodel of jazz so yea it might be him.

OOOHHH...........I NEVER even thought of Drift! I wouldn't mind that at all. I was really, really hoping for Jazz, but I'd be happy with either Drift or Smokey. Really there are VERY few that I'd wouldn't mind seeing!

 

it's probably smokescreen. though it could be jazz, it is his colors, blue & red on white, and his number does change alot, soo ya never know. I hop at least they make a repaint of his figure to look like jazz.

 

Actually, he was gonna die at the end of season one when Megs was resurrected.

I don't think they're gonna introduce a brand new Autobot with a brand spankin' new character model and kill him off as quick as they do to Decepticons who end up having their character model reused (Skyquake, Hardshell) or eventually resurrected in a form (Breakdown/Silasdown). Remember, they're still using Cliff's character model in flashback eps.

Character models are expensive stuff.

 

Taking into account the color scheme and the number 38, I don't see how it could be anyone BUT Smokescreen.

But hey, I grew up thinking that Smokescreen was an orange mobile crane, so what do I know.
