what is this "joing" that you speak of. Is it like boing? Sorry couldn't resist. I would also like to know.
I'm on the fence also.... other than the chance to get that hotrod figure I passed up for a hotwheel back when I was younger.....I don't see the worth...but I still want that Hotrod figure
Depends, are you going to Botcon, and/or are you going to buy things from the TFCC store for the member's discount?
If you plan on getting P/CP, Shattered Glass Cyclonus and the free Dion then yes, absolutely. I joined for that reason even though I won't be going to Botcon.
I've been a member of the club for years and find the cost justified by the free club exclusive toy like Nexus Maximus and the access to the non-free club exclusive toys like Astrotrain, Airazor and this year's Punch/Counterpunch. If you do not plan to go to Botcon and have no interest in the toys, then the club is probably not for you. But if one of those things applies to you, then the cost is worth it. I hope that this helps.
Would the club be worth joining just for Punch/ Counterpunch or would I just be better off buying him elsewhere? I noticed that Astrotrain and Airazor kinda go for high prices
I'm curious for the same reason. I really want the Punch/Counterpunch, but don't want the membership for anything else.
For me, it just REALLY depends on the freebie and the club exclusive figure. This year is the first that I've seriously considered it.
Yeah, I'm wondering about all the ins and outs of this. I'm joining because I'm going to Botcon this year, but what all else am I getting out of this?
I'm thinking about joining if I get this job, but I'm still on the fence. On the one hand I want the free figures, and to be able to buy the exclusive figures, on the other hand, I don't have plans to go to Botcon this year (can't make it) So I don't want to feel like I'm wasting money paying for something I won't use this year.
I joined because I do like the figures and comics, but I want to support the continued success of the club.
Yes- if you're going to Botcon, or if you want all the exclusives No- if you're not going to Botcon, and you only want one of the exclusives, or if you live outside the US. Generally the exclusives don't go for more on the aftermarket than the cost of the toy plus the cost of membership, at least at first. For example, if an exclusive is $50 and the membership is $40, it's usually possible to find one for sale for less than $90 early on. Or if you only want the freebie, that's ALWAYS considerably less aftermarket than the cost of the membership. In other words, you're saving money by buying them second hand. On the other hand, if you want more than one club toy that year, it's probably cheaper to go ahead and get the membership. Botcon is a no brainer unless you're refusing to join the club on principles; the discount members get to Botcon is greater than the cost of the membership. Both of the above assumes you live in the US; if you don't, then joining the club flatout doesn't make sense at all.
Even if you guys are not going to Botcon or just want ONE club exclusive, there is no reason not to join. What can you possibly lose from joining the club if all you want is one exclusive. Buying the exclusive as a non member would equal to the cost of joining the club and buying it as a member. Plus you will get 6 issues of the club magazine and get the 2010 freebie if you join by March 2010.
How are people pricing these figures on Ebay? If it's $40. or less and don't want a membership, just buy the figure.
