I just found out that at the end of the month there should be a garage kit figure for Johnny Five available. It is done in a similar vain to the fan project/mod kits for Transformers or the figures they sell at Wonder fest in japan.

It is going to have movable arms, legs, waste and rolling treads and stand at 13 inches tall. It will be limited to 100 figs at 200$ each.

The quickest way I know to get on the buyers list is to request it on creators facebook page "I Want A Johnny 5 Toy Robot!"

Also, I heard that there is consideration in Hollywood for a third J5 movie. I don't know if the robot design will stay the same or if there are plans for toys.

I am in no way affiliated with the makers of the garage kit (though I did hear there might be a price drop if he gets a large enough bulk order in :3 )

Holy SHIT! You don't know how loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong I've been wanting one of these! I've always loved the first movie, second one was kind of cool, especially at the end when he becomes a citizen and has a nice gold finish. Hope they release a version of that as well.
    Johnny Five IS alive!
How do I get one of these? I want one sooooooooooooooooooo bad!

Okay, just joined their Facebook club and requested one! :D

That does come off as a lot, but that seems to be the going rate. Wonder fest stuff, that is much smaller, with larger runs, can cost just as much or more. And this is 13 inches tall and already built and painted.

Nature of the beast, these days. :S

I've just started communicating with the J5 maker on Facebook.

I'd love to own one, but looking at the pictures, it looks like cheap plastic. Neat but too much for something I think will break if you look at it wrong

You maybe looking at a prototype picture in which case it probably does look like week plastic. I'm sure if this goes into production the plastic will be better quality. Personally, I'd love to see one out of die-cast metal.

I'd love to get one, then make him up to appear as he did in the end of Short Circuit 2, all decked out in gold chrome.

I ended up getting one. It is pretty neat. But it is made out of a pretty low grade plastic. It is the same plastic used in a lot of model kits. It isn't as bad as the plastic used in dollar tree toys, but it isn't as nice as something Kenner or Hasbro would make.

But it is the best thing out there.

They are showing the movie Short Circuit on a local channel in my area, so I started doing a search to see if there was ever a toy made of Johnny Five and came across this thread. I guess to date no toy has ever been made, which is unfortunate since it is one cool looking robot.

LEGO Group's Technic Line had a "Droid Developer Kit" back in 1999 that tied in with Star Wars Episode 1. The most intermediate robot the kit had instructions for was L3G0, who looked a lot like SAINT Number 5 (Johnny Five). With the Micro-Scout unit (A very basic Smart motor brick that, on certain settings, could react to light and play sounds, and could be used in tandem with the Minstorms controller unit for more advanced functionality) installed, L3G0 could rove forwards, backwards in a circle (The rear wheel was designed to turn on reverse), and could even frenzy on higher settings (The arms were unpowered, so it would rove back and forth while playing sounds for five seconds).
