Him and every other custom sold on eBay. ¬_¬
They're not customized, they've been built from scratch.
Personally I find this a lot less legally questionably than knockoffs.
There's no real need for a seeker mold.
There's already been a couple of good G1 accurate molds done by Takara/Hasbro.
All the guys he's done haven't had a good G1 accurate modern toy.
I would have loved to see his take on a G1 transformable Galvatron
Well.... he made Wheelie and Octane, two obscure characters, and then out of the blue Hasbro came up with their own versions. Maybe a Jizaitoys Ironhide will be a harbinger of a HasTak Universe Ironhide figure.
Hasbro have made a new Wheelie toy? That's news to me.
Well, okay, so maybe they're only two for four so far.
Jizai Toys obtain "One day copyright" from TakaraTomy. That enables them to sell their kits on the day of an event only, such as Wonderfestival. Currently they are stuck with the stock they made for the winter Wonfes as the bad weather prevented them from attending the event.
They pay royalties too, so the kits are legit products.
As for this Ironhide, looks like the designer wants to keep Diaclone driver seats. Should be interesting.
So, these are officially licensed Japanese Transformers, then?
Not that it really matters, but Takara is aware of them and approves?
Yes. TakTom is aware of them and approves, takes their cut from Jizai Toys as well. (Jizai Toys has to pay them when they apply for the copyright.)
But as I said, the copyright is valid only for one day. Apparently they received many offeres to their unsold kits, but for this reason, they can't sell.
I love his kits...but when Ironhide is realeased it may be the first on of his that I get
I'd love to see him do an arcee, kup, springer, or wreckgar
so are these made out of regular hard plastic, or some kind of softer resin or pvc or something?
Have you ever put together a gundam kit? These are basically put together the same way.
quoted for ppl jumping the gun.
besides TFs, theres a boatload of one off licensed merch done for these event, especially movie properties.
I wish TakTom would hire this/these guys so we would see these toys mass-produced.
Jizaitoys - Special Copyright Permission from Takara
According to an article at Seibertron.com, Jizaitoys has received "special copyright permission" to sell their toys in "limited quantities" - only at Japan Wonder Festivals:
The owner of Jizaitoys, Emperor Leo, has informed me that they plan to sell Powerglide and Wheelie during the Summer Wonder Festival 2008. Unfortunately, they cannot sell their toys through any other venue (ie - the Internet, mail orders, etc). The reason is because Jizaitoys has received special copyright permission from TakaraTomy to sell their Transformers in limited quantities only during the Wonder Festivals in Japan.
I've seen some threads on here regarding copyright issues with these toys, especially after Hasbro's announcement to the GI Joe (and presumably other Hasbro toy lines) customizing community a while back. I think this is a good thing - as close to official recognition as these awesome figures will probably get. I hope this is true, and not just a rumor - I haven't seen this information here on TFW2005 yet.
**Edit - There was apparently a discussion about it here. Shows what I get for not checking back up on that thread.
interesting but is there not a guy that copies them and sells them on Ebay?
This guy makes the best scratch builds ever!
I never knew about these guys, I like the Cyclonus, Id pick him up.
