Why? I'm perfectley neutral on the creation of this, but why? Is there some kind of obscure homage I'm missing?
That's got to be the strangest Transformer knock-off I've ever seen.
I dig the unique transformation, but I'm really going to have to wait for the final version to make up my mind.
You guys are jumping the gun. It's probably just there for SCALE and REFERENCE. He is known for making tons of animal and human transformers.
And it transforms nothing like a real TF so don't call it a knock-off. Not Transformers related.
Unless it's buried in all that Japanese, then I'll proudly insert foot into mouth
Interesting, lets wait for the finished version.
Reminds me of Wreckloose.
...it's not a knock-off.
Looks pretty dang cool.
Pity it'll cost me my soul.
Yeah, there are a few of them on his site. Pretty amazing stuff. Little Red Riding Hood turning into a wolf? That's inspired! That frog is something else too.
Yeah, I love this stuff. My favorite is always the family turning into the whole family one Genius.
that whole tail being the foot bothers me.
this guy is super gifted and I think he is just making things he likes as it is his art, so if we dont get it then hey what does it really matter.
i LOVE them why don't he sell them
Not my thing, a nice try though.
OK, here's a translation info from someone fluent in Japanese:
According to the site, he initially started work on Dinobot. However, he scrapped those plans when he found out Universe Dinobot was due to be released and made it into a fan character instead.
On one hand, I wish he would have made Dinobot because I know it would have been perfect. On the other hand, I'm glad he didn't because if he did, that would mean Universe Dinobot didn't exist and since these really aren't available anyway I couldn't have gotten much out of it.
Seriously, there isn't one figure in that animal/car/tank/chair(?!) pic that I wouldn't buy in a store.
Maybe he got tired of all the Universe toys that followed or beat to market his fan-kit projects (Octane, Cyclonus, Powerglide Wheelie, Ironhide, though his are more cartoon-based). As much creativity as I see out of that guy, I think Takara ought to hire him. Who knows though, maybe he likes to design and make transforming toys more as a hobby than as a career.
Yeah, as good as the rest of the toys are, the clear winner has to be the frog lady. Why? Eye-boobs. I sincerely believe that eye-boobs are the future of Transformers.
Oh yes, I LOLed at the Frog Lady!
Jizai's a genius. His work goes for insane amounts, but deservedly so.
