    Jin's design is much better.

It could just be that the Legends toy of the character sucks, though.:D

    Jin's is easily better.
However, don't forget that we're comparing a custom painted Voyager with a Legend Class figure; there's NEVER going to be any comparison between the two.
Kudos, Jin! You got noticed d00d!

Considering that Jin's design is just a repaint of Hasbro's own work on a movie style helicopterformer...

... I'd say it's a lot more likely that they just liked the design of Inferno and wanted to put it into RotF.

Not to belittle Jin's work or anything, but that Hasbro made springer into a green helicopter is hardly earth shattering.

I fail to see how Hasbro copied Jin's work. Springer has always been green, so Jin painting him green wasn't a unique concept. Both Jin and Hasbro used a darker shade of green that is typical of past Springers, but that makes sense if you want the helicopter/osprey mode to look more realistic. The yellow/gold vs. orange detailing is also very different.

Jin made a custom based on Hasbro's past work on a character. All Hasbro did was take their previous concept of their character and gave it a more realistic paint job.

There seems to be a bit of a story behind Legends Autobot Springer, which I don't have all the details for.
I do know that bright orange on the Legends toy was picked for a very specific purpose, than something changed after the deco was designed.
All may become clearer when he's seen out of package in both modes.
And I also know, with 100% certainty, the colors for Legends Springer have nothing to do with Jin's custom.

Jin, is that you? Anyways, I can point to many official Hasbro repaints that look oddly similiar to customs. Did Hasbro copy these customs? I highly doubt it, especially when these customs (including Jin's) are based on Hasbro's own past characters. Now if Jin (or any other customizers) created a fan character and Hasbro came out with a repaint similiar to said fan character then there MIGHT be something to be said. Otherwise, no.

I wonder if Springer's "bigger then legends class" figure ends up being a new mold, or if they will indeed just reuse Incinerator's. I hope it's new, and without the gimmick that kept Incinerator from being really great. Hands would be nice. Although based on the legends figure that seems unlikely.

Yeah no offense to any parties being brought up here, but "helicoptor + green = Springer" is more of a Transformers mythos thing than the idea of any one person at this point. ;)

Yeah, uh... I'm assuming the supposed plagiarism is based on the facts that it has propellers for hands and is named Springer? Because NO ONE EVER had the idea of making a green helicopter named Springer before. Despite that, they are completely different sizes, and have different color schemes.
I don't see any room for comparison.

I've had my own little customs and tweaks and such that either other customizers, kitbashers, or toy lines have mimicked without even knowing...and certainly vice versa! Just because people are thinking along parallel lines doesn't mean one is ripping off the other's ideas.

Haha, it sorta reminds me of when my trekkie friends got all conspiratory claiming that Star Trek TNG stole their plot ideas from their net fic fanscripts...

the simplest explanation is usually the best.

in this case hasbro simply made a legends figure possibly based on incinerator mould, coloured it green and called it springer.

This is more likely than hasbro seeing Jins amazing custom and saying 'hey, look at jins excellent custom, lets make a small legends figure rather like incinerator and give it jins custom colours, thanks jin for the idea of making a green helicopter and calling it springer.

    yup.

now if the orange detailing were there in the same positions id be more inclined to think that there was some connection but of course the orange detailing isnt there......
