Is there a reproduction veritech out right now that could pass for the G1 Jetfire toy if given a set of reproduction labels?

Any VF-1S from Bandai, Yamato or Toynami can be redone into a Jetfire. That is, if you have the money to buy one and have the confidence to successfully do it.

I'm surprised that noone has used the 1/60 VF-1 to make a classics Jetfire.

Just did a thread on this not too long ago:
    http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/252031-jetfire-stand.html

Should just about answer all of your questions. ;)

In any case, the 1/48th VF-1S Ichiko with super parts is exactly the jetfire used from 1984, and was reissued by Bandai in the early 90's. The only downside is the color scheme is yellow where there would be red on Jeffire. Other than that, check out the 1/60th with the same model name to find a red version, albeit not 100% G1 Jetfire.

I'm still amazed that they haven't produced a red armour pack for the 1/48s - there must be a big enough market of TF fans who would kill for an easy MP Jetfire and as long as the packs were autobot symbol-free surely there'd be no copyright infringement either.

    Seems like a no-brainer...

Yamato's licenses for the PT variable fighters are exclusively for the Macross series, and their products always have to be inspected and approved by the IP owners Big West and Studio Nue, neither of whic probably want nothing to do with the Transformers franchise. I am assuming that anyway since Takara Tomy/ Hasbro have gone a different direction with later Jetfire toys and have not so much as tried getting a rerelease of the original( it maybe worth noting Bandai has had unknown issues trying rerelease their old chunkies as well.)

HarmonyGold (aka evil incarnate) holds the rights to the "Veritech" or Valkyrie VF-1 likeness in America b/c they own the Robotech license, which includes the three animes mashed together to make Robotech to begin with (Macross, Mospeada, and whatever the third one was).

They produced their own shoddy update of the VF-1 design, the "Masterpiece Veritech" while trying to block any import of the design by Japanese companies.

Bandai (through Takatoku) made the original VF-1 design (aka chunky monkey) that was repainted into the Jetfire toy by Hasbro. That original design has been reissued in Japan and you can probably find a VF-1S to repaint pretty easily.

The VF-1S it self is a variant of the VF-1 that comes with the four-lasered head. The VF-1J has a two lasered head and the VF-1A is the single laser head.

The VF-1S comes in multiple color schemes. The Roy Fokker version is the traditional yellow-stripe, skull and crossbones scheme. The Hikaru Ichijo version, however substitutes a red-stripe and is the easiest to turn into Jetfire.

I am positive that already one 1/48 VF-1S as a custom Jetfire. I don't believe any v2 1/60 have been converted however.
