Bay has been boasting hw funny it will be to see Jetfire acting all old, forgetting things, hardly being able to transform, losing bolts and screws. I hope that this isn't his central character aspect. I was anticipting te former Decepticon to always be in deep thought, mindful of the pst and is horrors, striving to make a better future, using his experiences to help guide the Autobots. I hope I'm not wrong, and the comedy is not all there is to Jetfire besides his combination.

I'm thinking a mix of both.

Like, he gets his veteran moments, talking about stuff until one of the younger bots tell him to hurry up and he starts grumbling, you dig?

I also really like the idea that a old robot has trouble transforming and walking.

Well, since he's the old guy, you know there are gonna be jokes about that. But the movie is darker, and the guy is aparently ex-Decepticon, so I say he's a bit more serious minded. He's got a giant mini-gun and a old guy pimp cane, so you know he means buisness.

I like that idea too. I just don't want there to be too much of it, mainly the forgetting and losing bolts stuff, that it will make Jetfire serve little purose other than comedy ad an upgrade for Prime.

the cane is stupid...his personality sounds nothing like him from any series of transformers he has ever been in....if they wanted an old geriatric bot why didnt they have kup be the volt instead of jolt? its just frustrating how they can take one of my favs and completely change who he is! I love how they had him be a con and now a bot but an old guy with a cane...COME ON!!

Are we voting for how we would prefer it to be, or how we think it will be?

I could see them doing a bit of humor, but I would think the fact that he's an ex-Decepticon would necessitate a serious side to him. It would be kind of odd to have him switch sides and suddenly the Autobots are all jokingly ribbing him about his age.

I actually don't remember Bay saying specifically that they were going for a 'funny' angle with him. I definitely recall the 'losing bolts and screws' bit, but that doesn't necessarily have to be played for a humorous angle.

I don't care what he is, just as long as he says:

"I'm gettin' too old for this shit!"

i would hate if jetfire was 'generic, stereotyped, "back in my day" geezer'. that just sounds retarded. an ex-decepticon should be seriously messed up in an awesomely mysterious way. not 'losin bolts' and 'forgetting importatn stuff'.

I'm thinking the Yoda of Transformers. (If you think about it, ESB had the old sage saving the day with the young warrior. ROTF has the same principle with Jetfire assisting Prime in defeating The Fallen, like Yoda teaching Luke the Force.)

Well, to be honest, Agent SImmons voicing him doesn't instill all that much more confidence in how they'll play his character... dude doesn't have the acting chops to do anything serious, so I hope this doesn't carry over to his voicing of Jetfire.
