That's the part that makes these things key chains, it isn't a part of their actual body.

Thing is, it's not particularly big, just really long. And most of that length is the "neck" and cockpit, which will probably just telescope in when he transforms.

I hate to use wiki for referencing, but according to their page,
    the SR-71 checks in at:

    Length: 107ft. 5in (32.74m)
    Height: 18ft. 6in (5.64m)
    Wingspan: 55ft. 7in (16.94m)

I'd say those spec's are quite big, especially compared to a peterbuilt cab.
Should be interesting to see how he transforms; but, I figure he'll be quite large.
Bigger than Prime I'd say. Enough to take down devy? I guess we'll wait for that.

that L x H x W does not equal the volume of the jet...

I was arguing furiously about the scale of the jet and the truck with...someone on this board. I don't recall the user name. But some of these pics says a thousand words on the topic and I'm officially thinking I was wrong.

So, ya know, whoever you were...my bad.

From the size of the jet and silhouette of the keychain, I'd say it's possible Prime would "pilot" Jetfire like those Zion Defense robot things from the last Matrix.

That would look really cool, IMO.

Yeah, since the jet is so thin, it could easily compress down into a smaller, beefier bot. I really hope the toy can pull it off acceptably...

Ok Honestly it looks like Prime is wearing a huge jetpack and jetboots, with armor on and a huge gun. He looks more like a Gundam than a Transformer.

There is a scale model of an SR-71 in front of the Space & Rocket center in Huntsville, AL. It's been a long while since I was there, but my original impression, shared by the group I was with that evening, was that it was much smaller than we thought it would be. It looks incredibly imposing up close, but I think that's more a function of sleekness and aesthetic, not mass.

And, come to think of it, I work where lots of industrial equipment goes out on flatbeds. Some of those supercabs are massive.

I'm sure they'll cheat the scale a little bit, but I don't think it's a stretch for Prime and Jetfire to merge without the plane 'absorbing' the truck.

Actually, what I was mentioning about the SR71 guys is the size of the J58's, the engines. From the silhouette it looks like they're just trying to plunk the engines right on Prime's back. Those engines alone are somewhere around 40 feet long, I don't have the exact specs in front of me.

In comparison, the F22 is about 60 feet long, and if you remember from this pic the F22 is pretty big compared to the Peterbuilt. They had to make Starscream wide and squat to put all that mass somewhere and cheat it so he wasn't towering over the Autobots.

I wonder how this movie is going to approach, or better explain all the combiners. For instance, when Jetfire and Optimus combine, are they going to form a brand new being? New name, new face, new voice, etc? I originally figured the combination would be simple, like that mini fig we saw a few months back, but this latest picture has be questioning that theory.
