It seems to me from what I've seen that they are trying to portray Jetfire as like a grumpy Alpha Trion, does anyone else see the similarity? I would have said Kup originally, but I'm not thinking s now.

Other than being old, and having a beard, I honestly don't see the similarity. One is an old and wise Autobot, and sort of a mentor time of character, while the other is an old ex-Decepticon jet-bot with rust issues and a cane. I think Jetfire is closer to a cross between G1 Skyfire and Dr. House than he is Alpha Trion.

Um... not really seeing any major similarities other than the age...

ROTF reminds me of Animated, in that the characters befit their names, they have more colourful personalities, more stylized looks with "themes" and stuff, so I instantly connect him with Ratchet, myself. (Movie Ratchet reminds me more of Dr. Fraiser)

I see him being a little more like Vector Prime then Alpha Trion.

Other than the age i dont really see a common factor. Trion is more of a smart and wise bot and Jet-Fire is just an old reformed Decepticon whos seen better days.

It would make more sense to call him Alpha Trion. And not make him a Decepticon. But then again; the magic word is 'sense'

Last time I checked Vector Prime and Alpha Trion never complained about things like having a rusty arse.

i definitely thought of Animated Ratchet upon seeing him in the show west footage. He had the personality of him.

But Jetfire was never an old (as in ancient old) character.
