Here's what I got so far. I redid the chest and shins since these pictures, but it's more or less complete. I decided instead of a trailer per se, it's going to turn into a military train and Prime will just drive in reverse. So far, there has been no modification to Prime at all. For anyone else that intends to make one of these, use TWO Jetfires and strongly consider making the armor permanent. Trust me. I'll finish this at some point. Maybe sell it because I'm kind of sick of it.

That is awesome. And for some reason, he looks sleeker.

Yeah, he's a little skinnier in places, particularly the thrusters and back wings, due to lack of material. There's supposed to be some fins behind his head I haven't added yet, too.

I've seen good custom Power Up Optimus Prime's on this board and let me just say this one is way more superior all of them combined!

He is slimmer, more movie accurate, has detachable jets like in the movie, and can travel on Optimus in his vehicle mode like a trailer.

I SO WANT THIS FOR MY OWN OPTIMUS PRIME!!!

I beg of you minsok, if and when you have the time, please PLEASE give us a step-by-step tutorial about how you did this! :(

Though it is not painted like some other great customs here, I think this one is executed the best, as you can take it on and off, have a trailer and the perfect look of Power Up Prime! Really cool!

Thanks. I'm only being modest because it's not complete yet. I found a way to line up the panels so the trailer looks smoother, so I'm going to work on that once I buy an RID Prime. I don't think it really needs a tutorial. Basically, you wrap parts of prime in saran wrap, you then cover it with Aves Fixit Sculpt and then you press the Jetfire parts on top of that. When it dries, you have armor that's molded to Prime's body. That's really all there is to it.

I like where you're going with this. I'd actually keep the parts/alt mode because it works well. What are you using to cut your pieces, because I noticed a lot of jagged edges, etc. It just looks like you'll have a smoothing/filling to do.

Come on minsok, be a sport and please give us a tutorial! :(

Ever since I saw this thread I've been thinking about creating my own ROTF Leader Ultra Magnus with super armor.

The way you did this custom is exactly what I need to accomplish that!

So please be kind and give us a tutorial! :cry

I'm so desperate and eager that I'll even pay you for one!

I mean, you can see the pieces I used and where. What specific questions did you have? As for tools, I use a power drill with dremel parts (a little buzzsaw and sanding drums), Aves Fixit Sculpt, some clay sculpting tools, gorilla glue, and a steak knife. I'm not really into doing a tutorial because it was time consuming to make and I don't particularly want to relive it.

I'm just asking you how you did the whole custom without the jets like in the pic below:

What specific Transformers (or other action figures) parts did you use and how did you fashion them for this custom?

You can see in the second picture how the parts break down. Two feet with wings and toe guards, two shin guards, chest piece, two shoulder guards with kibble that goes behind Prime's head, and the backpack/thruster assembly. I got lucky because that "kibble" that goes behind Prime's head has ball joints that I clip the wing assembly onto. You can see how that works in the picture of his back.

For non-Jetfire parts, I used ROTF Skystalker for the feet armor and wings, Bionicle parts everywhere and for all moving parts, and the brownish/gray parts are from a magnetic War Machine figure. Instead of using these for filler, you should just use another Jetfire figure; it ends up costing about the same and you can make the thrusters bigger, which is the one thing I'm not satisfied with. This figure is SO much easier if you don't try to make him transform. If I do another one, I'm going to do that and buy two Jetfires. Here's some pictures from earlier stages.

You start with the bones and you just start clumping on more and more.

Great sharing there! Most appreciated :thumb  However I noticed that there is an additional piece on the chest which looks like it is bolted on the cab windscreen. Can I know which part is this from. I like the look and I might do that in my second take on PUP. Of course, you will be credited. :D  :D  :D  :D

Oh yeah, it's not in the movie form, but it is in Nizzi's concept art. I cut out some parts from a spare Cybertron Optimus Prime trailer and wedged in two rectangles I cut out of a 30 cent cup. You could use parts from any Optimus Prime, that's just what I had in my junk heap that matched the red. That and the Bionicle parts around his neck beef him up real nice. The whole chest plate is just tied onto the body with elastic, I haven't made it fit without yet.

And while I'm thinking about it, something I did that was pretty awesome is I molded his foot armor so the outside toe slides in it, then it locks in place by clamping the inner toe onto it. The triangular toe guard is molded to the top of the original foot and also helps secure the foot armor. I'll have to do a feature video when it's all done.
