    wow.

They cut a cat in half, Spider man uses a gun,. there's a power ranger zord, a Dr Doom ripoff, a hot Japanese Dr Doom sidekick, and he has a Spider-mobile!

This is much better than Spiderman 3

Actually, the Japanese Spider-man series was apparently the first to have giant robots that battled monsters.

Not quite. Spider-Man was the first show to have the hero battle a monster, then fight the giant version of it - a plot device that went on to become a huge part of Sentai.

    Amazoness?

    It's already a feminine word!

    Damn you, Japan!

Although I <3 the giant rhinoceros beetle thing behind her.

I'm saving that link. I think the wacky dancey-stuff at :35 might make a nice anigif.

I have actually watched this series before and loved it. My SOC Leopaldon and japanese Spider-man figure are my favorite toys on my desk. Marvel should do a Marvel team-up with both Spider-men.

The difference being that Japanese Spider-Man is official. Even Stan Lee likes it.

There was almost a Japanese Captain America, too. After the success of Spider-Man, they were working on a show called Captain Japan. It was going to have a team of five Captains from around the world, including Captain America. At some point, they decided to drop the ties to Captain America, and made it a part of Super Sentai. The series that we eventually got as Power Rangers. Battle Fever J became the first Sentai Series to adopt the giant robot battles used in Spider-man, and it's become a staple of the show ever since. Oddly enough, Marvel was still listed in the credits of it, and the next two Super Sentai shows.
