Is it just me or does it look like the Japanes Beast Wars re-issues are over. Repaints of the Ulta Megatron & Primal molds are due this month but nothing has been announced after this. Generally we know Japanese releases a few months in advance so it looks like this may be the end of them. I seem to remember that Robot Masters died like this, just fizzling out.

Shame if so, I was hoping for the following:

1) The final memeber of Tripredacus
2) Terrorsaur in show accurate colours
3) Airazor in show accurate colours
4) Tarantulas in show accurate purple and bright green

unfortunately ravage won't happen. hasbro lost the mold after they used it to make botcon tigatron

 

They're too damn expensive! I want about half of them but at $25 - $30 each? Screw it!

 

Actually, there are three more planned releases, one of them being the missing part of Tripredacus. I don't know who the others are, but it's right there in takara's BW site.

I was hoping for an Airazor.

They probobly aren't yet, since there's three spaces left in the lineup.

 

I would have liked to see them reissue Rattrap, Terrorsaur, Airrazor and Scorponok. I was happy to get a more show accurate Black Arachnia and Tigatron though.

It is true. Though lost molds happen, especially when the figures are hardly ever used.

Seriously though, some of these fan reactions are total lulz.

 

I got X-9 Ravages x2 (MIB & MISB) and would prefer that he never gets re-issued.  

But I agree that it would be cool to see 2-packs with show-accurate Rattrap vs. Terrorsaur and a voyager-sized Scorponok (not happening of course, but I can always dream, lol.)

Anyway Split Lip nobody looses that much shit. They should come clean one time and say"hey we were done w/ the mold so we tossed it" I have read "lost mold, oh so sorry" one to many times, and I'm sure you have as well.

 

If you look at the number of "lost mold" items compared to the total number of TF toys produced (and re-produced through reissues and repaints), it's not really all that much.

 

If there are only three more planned releases and one of them is DJ then one of the others should be the elusive Drancron, I mean he's been listed up as a pre-order over at BBTS for how long now?

As for the third member, I would love to see them use a BW II Destron to go with the BW II Cybertrons they've been making... Thrustol, Dirgegun, Hellscream or Max B are all prime candidates or they could do what they did with Howlinger/Boldfang who apparently is a Destron repaint of the mold, take Bighorn and make him a Destron or something.

I can't wait to get them all, I'm going to get the entire set as soon as I am able just because Beast Wars is such a highlight in my eyes that I'm going to go out of my way to complete almost the entire run from Kenner/Hasbro and Takara/Tomy. (I'm excluding 99% of Beast Wars Metals for the sake of sanity.)

 

LOST MOLDS HAPPEN. They have no control of it. When a mold isn't used for so long it could get lost. They don't toss molds because that loses them money. LOTS OF MONEY. Honestly, think, why would they just trow away a mold when they could easily use it to make more figures, hence, make more money?

 

It costs money to store molds so a mold , could, get tossed if there aren't any plans to use it. But, more likely, the molds may have decayed so why save it?

They might still have them but it may be "lost" because no one knows where they put it. Another problem with saving too much stuff.

They have made new molds, in the past, from an existing toy (wasn't Soundwave, or Soundblaster, one of those?) so they could if they wanted too. Depends on how high they think the demand, would be. (I would think this would cost less then developing a new toy since all the bugs are worked out. All they have to do is make the mold because all the design and prototype stages are done.)

 

I cannot recall them ever doing that. Though if you have a link to a sample I would love to read it, it would be interesting.

That is not the same case, but similar. The Soundwave mold was permanently altered for the use of Soundblaster. The altered portion was the tapedeck buttons that allow for the extended tape deck. While the flat tape deck door still remains, the buttons have been permanently altered.

 

Why would they lose it, then?
