Dial carefully! Meet Kuratas, the million dollar robot which weighs four tons, shoots when you smile and is controlled by iPhone | Mail Online

Now, if it could just turn into a car or a jet....

All well and good but can people have sex with it? This thing doesn't seem to advance the science of realistic sex robots at all. I mean that's usually why robots get made these days isn't it?

Wow, reminds me of the big robot from Robocop 2... Scary times I must say.

    Robocop 2? More like ED-209.

IMO, the advance of robotics should be gauged by how well they can perform different tasks (giggidy included) and not by how big a gun it can wield. This just looks like a PR stunt for a weapons manufacturer, those hands don't look like they actually do anything.

So meh. Show me a robot with an ass like an Olympic Beach Volleyball player and we'll talk.

This is true. I could bolt a massive gatling gun to my gran's tartan shopping trolley but that doesn't make it a war robot. Just very good at getting to the last loaf of bread at Tescos. She's iPhone controlled too. I'll call her and tell her to bring me home some bacon and she will.
    Only talk? :p

    Stick it in her 'puter!

Right, because it needed that dual gatling gun on the arm.

    God dammit Japan.

I am getting a massive "YOU HAVE 10 SECONDS TO COMPLY" vibe off that.

I mean really? Does it sound smart to anyone to mount heavy weaponry on a giant robot and then have it controlled through a goddamn smartphone network? "Oh no, I just wanted to play coin dozer and now all those people are dead!"

Japan comes up with the craziest stuff so let's just wait for a few more years before a real TF pops up on the media. :D

I love japan's "forget life, let's build robots" mentality. :D

This will be very useful for me to keep burglars out of my house. And it's only like 9000 usd? That's a steal.

People questioning the sensibility of the gattling gun should watch the promo video for this thing. It's a BB gun and it's a joke. There's a tongue in cheek voiceover while the pilot lady is practically losing her mind laughing in the cockpit. This is a million dollar toy, not a warbot :)

Um, no. Add a few more zeroes on there. :p

    EDIT:

The description for the rocket pod is the best. "It is totally harmless. On very rare occasions it will hit a target".
