Casually tossed out by Andy Schmidt on the IDW forums' thread for Hearts of Darkness #1:

I'd say that's cause to celebrate!

Partial celebration. I want him to write at least the next 12 issues, and maybe then I will start reading IDW again.

Wish it was more than only two issues, but good news nonetheless.

Hopefully this might lead to more than just two issues, I'm reading the ongoing anyways so this is a bonus no matter what happens.

    Same.

IDW has fallen so far I'm not touching the ongoing until there's a good writer on board for at least one whole story arc.

Still, it's a step in the right direction.

Sounds like it's just a stand in set of issues, doesn't necessarily mean Costa's been fired or anything. Looking forward to those issues though!

Well hopefully the two issues will get a big enough bump in buyers from people like me that have otherwise given up on transformers comics that IDW will take note, because I will only buy those two issues if it then goes back to the same old.

AHHHH, nice. give time for costa to get his stories in order. you guys shouldn't be so hard on him, him being the main writer on an ongoing series is probably tough.

This is depressing, instead of squandering his talent on the current ongoing, they should give him another ongoing, let him deal with the cosmic stuff while Costa can handle his earth stories

"If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

And I'm not going to support a bad writer because "WRITING'S HARD BAAAW." Boot his ass and get a competent writer indefinitley on the ongoing, IDW.

i didn't say to support him , just cut him some slack he is planning this entire series out without any sort of bookends, he has his starting point and then he goes from there, it would be a smart idea for IDW to bring in additional writers to lessen the load. and define competent, do you mean someone who writes the characters like their tech spec bios? i mean im sorry he doesnt have megatron build a giant purple griffin, but what ya gonna do.

It's not so much the bump in buyers if you're buying the physical copy of the comic, but getting your local comic shop to order more in.

IDW won't be looking at individual sells of the comic, more the order numbers from Diamond. So if you don't normally buy the comic and are planning to get these issues, ask your retailer in advance so they can adjust their order numbers and it'll make more of a difference.

However, the digital version of the comic is a different matter, as that is individual sells that IDW will notice. It'll be interesting to see if there's a spike in digital copies of those issues moved over the usual issues of Ongoing.
