First a short story to lead up to my topic:

Apparently my area is DEAD for Transformers. (Clarksville, IN/Louisville, KY) I went to Wal-Mart and Target and all they had was wave 1 of Generations (plenty of it), up to some of wave 2 for HFTD, and a bunch of ROTF... no PCC either. So finally I decided to go to TRU... that place is a train wreck, most of the toys are on different shelves, but I digress. Their TF section is even worse than the other 2 stores. They still have a bunch of the exclusive ROTF battle packs, and the exclusive Universe Ultras. There was even a Lugnut. I was about to give up and then I notice a Animated Rodimus and was like, "What the heck, I've heard he's good." (Mind you I've never bought an Animated toy).

When I got home and took a look at him I was blown away by the simple but dramatic engineering that went with the toy. It seemed to shift mass right in front of me when I TF'd if to robot mode. I love the light-pipping and how the bubbles in it make it look like he has pupils.

I kinda regret not getting any of the Animated toys now :banghead: , I always (in my mind) pictured them as too kiddie, probably because of the packaging. :lol

I hope this doesn't happen to me again in the future with another line.

The mass shifting thing is something a lot of the line does really well. Luckily, most of the figures are still easy to come by online, with only a few exceptions.

I got into the Animated line late too but everything from it for the most part is super cheap. Lots of good deals on these forums alone.

If you find a Lugnut, you should pick one up. I highly recommend it. Especially the Atomic Lugnut repaint.

If your interested in some animated stuff, I have some in my sales thread. Also the TRU Express near my house has Voyager Optimus, Grimlock and Blitzwing for $12.99. The Marshal's have Starscream, Skywarp and the Blueish/gray Shockwave for the same price. If your interested, I can pick some up for you.

Atomic Lugnut is one of those rare repaints that actually improves the character.

grab them now while they are cheap, with all the people selling them to either get shiny versions or to make room

Don't bite! You'll save Money for better stuff. Not trying to be negative here. Just giving my 2 cents. Of all the ones I own, my favorites are the activators.

Animated is generally pretty cool. I would stay way from the Screamer mold.

Why did you pass up on Lugnut. He's friggin awesome dispite his dimunative size.

I still see some animated figures around places like Sears, However i live in Canada.

TRU should still have Animated Ironhide as he is Rodimus's wavemate.

I got into Animated late also, but the nice thing is finding a bunch of the figures that are cheaper now than when they were first released.

Some of the figures that are great are of course the Rodimus mold. I love Arcee and Blurr. The Cybertronian OP mold is damn good as well as the voyager. Atomic Lugnut can only be described as sexy tf goodness. And a figure that surprised me was Oilslick. Simple but a lot of personality and fun on that toy. Oh and my favorite toy from the Animated line that i have is Swindle. I love animated Swindle. Also the mold has its issue but the animated lockdown mold is pretty fun.

Really? What makes him stand out?

I wasn't too impressed with any of the pics I saw of him so I crossed him off my list. That head sculpt wasn't really doing it for me. Might have to reconsider though.

For the general thread discussion, I personally love the Ironhide, Blurr, Arcee and Lockdown figs and feel they deserve a spot in any Animated collection. Wasn't too big a fan of Soundwave at all.
