I just thought I'd mention that I've had more Transformers that were either faulty out of the box or broke on the day or purchase due to misassembly or design flaw than in any previous year ever.

Of the top of my head the list is as follows :

    Movie 2009 Breakaway (Brown)
Movie 2009 Breakaway (tan) same problem with the wings attachment point on both.
Movie Walmart/ASDA Ramjet Voyager - One of the wings won't latch in place.
Movie Scout Dunerunner - Mismolded Cannons.
Movie Scout Dead End/Detour - Chunk out of his windscreen.
Alternity Convoy - Fracture in his ankle attachment point.
Movie Deluxe Autobot Gears wonky backplate.
Animated Shockwave - loose front catapillar tracks so wont stand in crane mode.
Movie Deluxe Ravage - slightly wonky guns.
    Activators Ratchet has mismolded wheels.
Voyager Movie 2009 Starscream faulty ankle hatch.
Animated Swoop his head falls off
Henkei Ironhide - weapon does not slide properly.
Animated (purple) shockwave Head transformation mechanism faulty, crane arm auto-transform function does not work.
Preview Bumblebee - the cannon arm falls off.
Superions boxed set Silverbolt - nose cone falls off side panels fall off some parts misassembled, one of the wing cannons pinned in upsidedown on skydive so does it not bend.
Universe Cyclonus - Mismolded cannons on jet mode
Henkei & Universe Starscream both have loose cannon attachment to the arms.
Voyager Movie Megatron Faulty leg ratchets
Voyager Animated Skywarp Faulty leg ratchets, loads of scratches on the toy and sheered off screw on the hip plate.
Botcon Kup - Missing pin in elbow.

And that is just the ones I can remember.

And that does not even mention the ones that are designed wrong from the outset - like how Deluxe Sideswipe can't stand up.

I had some faulty 2007 toys such as Jazz and I had a Transformers Cybertron Unicron with two fore arm plates the same - but in general the cases of errors is small up until recently.

I mean for crying out loud in the last month alone it's been Ramjet, Animated Skywarp & Animated Shockwave & Superion that have proven faulty.

It made me a little maddening.

I got the ice cream truck and it was really faulty. Doors and fenders never would line up at all.

The way some Takara items have been rescheduled, combined with the fact that Takara and Hasbro are apparently sharing the same production lines would suggest an increased likelyhood of poor QC

...there however, i'd disagree. Not the easiest figure to pose, but Sideswipe CAN stand, even with the bumper feet removed.

The QC has definitely gone down over the last few years. Hasbro has obviously cut corners to keep the prices down. With the recent price hikes, I was hoping that the 2009 movie toys would be better, but Hasbro seems to be pocketing the money instead of making better toys.

I've bought around 80 tf's this year, and the only one I had a problem with was Animated Sunstorm. He was missing a wheel on his landing gear...no biggie.

You've had that many QC issues this year? Is this like how you get terrible service with/get banned from every shop you go into?

A shame really that we are not getting any value for money. There is also alot of toys now that fall apart so easly due to crappy design. ROTF voyager fallen for example is pretty much made out of legos. Why cant they add pins so legs etc don't just fall off when you are transforming? the ball jointed feet dont even stay in, they dont pop in just slide out. Rubbish!

My animated swoop is headless. He has been so for the last 5 months.

Silverbolt's legs; I like to take things apart, so no prob there.

That's all I can think of except the smudged J9 on my ROTF Brawl and some missing paint apps.

ROTF Scalpel had a few cracks in the "knees"

ROTF Deluxe BB had a few squashed pegs right out of the box. I had to shave a few pegs to prevent stressmarks from forming on the trunk

My MP Skywarp had a few weak spots, though none of them are really noticeable unless you're looking for them.

I finally got around to opening Animated Voyager Skywarp Christmas day...no fingers on the left hand. Right out of the box disappointment. Thanks QC.

Hey, someone has to end up with the faulty figures. The bright side is that you are helping fellow collectors out with getting a figure with no QC issues. ;)

Only problem I've had this year out of lots of TF's is Ani Sunstorm missing a missile. I'm thinking of just selling them all and to hell with it :D

I've got one, bought him for novelty value, but don't like the mold. He's for sale below.

My TF07 Protoform Starscream has a cracked waist/midsection right off the card.

That and my Universe Glavatron that falls apart if you are fast in transforming him.

Other than that, I have been remarkably lucky. Then again, I look at the figure thoroughly before I buy it to see if it has decent paint aps, and seems well assembled.

I long for the day when robots build our Transformers.

Wow...that would be pretty appropriate, and kick so much ass. Robots building Transformers. Epic.

Other than minor paint scratches I've had absolute no problems this year.

    Lucky, huh?

ROTF Scout Dead End—his face ripped off while trying to open his mouth.
ROTF Scout Scalpel—cracked joints so his legs fall off all of the time

Mostly the Animated line for me. I barely bought any ROTF, so I can't comment.

    2007 Movie:
Leader Brawl: Somehow his electronic sound broke the 2nd time I transformed him.
    Thundercracker: Very loose legs.

    Animated
Blurr: His shoulders will never connect.
Gray Shockwave: A huge green dot paint on his Shockwave face.
Skywarp: Everywhere was loose and his automorph was broken.
Blitzwing: Returned 2 times, 1st was because 1 button on his arm was stuck and the 2nd because 1 of his arm look like its would detach from the should on his own.
Snarl: Legs can't stay connected and he couldn't hold his weapon in his hand.
    Swoop: Everywhere was loose.
Wreck-Gar: Loose legs, he couldn't stand up and his backpack was very hard to connect.

    Masterpiece (Hasbro):
Skywarp: Spend 20 minutes at Wal-Mart checking which MP SW was in the best condition, 90% had paint problems or scratch.

Back in the Energon/Cybertron/Classic time, I never had to spend 5 minutes checking all copies to see which one is in good condition and they were always perfect.
