Where do the windshields of the movie TF's go? This migh seem a little stupid but I cant think of any logical place they would go.

I know. I would think they would break if they folded in on themselves, but they are a suped advanced alien race.

I think it goes without saying that the transformers have never, ever used glass for their windows, in any series. the glass would break too easily. movie prime wouldnt even have glass on his chest at the end of either movie. but he does.

its most likely a strong cybertronian material that does break up for transformation, and can take the stress of transformation and combat.

But I've heard nipples can get cold enough to cut glass......what if they're already glass..?

Well, Prime's doors actually fold when he's in robot mode, including the little side window on his passenger door. If that little window can bend twice and remain a solid piece, I'd imagine any windshield could fold up and hide somewhere.

This is exactly why I prefer the design style of G1 / Classics / etc. styled Transformers over anything claiming to be 'real'. As far as I was always concerned, TF alt modes are meant solely to be outwardly disguises that visually 'do the trick' when it comes to looking like Earth vehicles & machines but not meant to actually accomodate humans, let alone worry about things like functioning hoods & trunks, having engines, back seats, gas & brake pedals, gear shifts, etc. While things like Alternators and the Movie stuff are good in theory, I just can't accept the idea that these robots have the ability (or interest) to mimic fabric seating, plastic molding, engines, exhaust, door locks, windows that can roll down, little decals hanging from the rear view mirror, so on & so forth. Basically *being* the vehicle as opposed to merely mimicking it.

    But that's just me.

Remember the Star Trek movie where they were stuck in the past and need to get some whales home but glass wouldn't be strong enough so Scotty had to show the guy how to make transparent aluminum.

Perhaps Transformers are like that and it's some type of transparent metal so it could work just like their other parts instead of working like glass.

Of course I was also thinking it's too bad they haven't done any scenes in the movies yet where one of the bots use a sonic weapon in a parking lot to find the other Transformers since the glass would shatter on Earth cars and the Transformer would be the only car without shattered windows.

well, blackout's windows survived the big pulse that destroyed the windows in that tower at the military base.

    How about...

I was thinking that since the glass-like material is much more durable than regular automotive glass, that it could be used to reinforce what armor plating they do have. This would be much the same way ceramic is used in modern vehicle armor today. Therefore, the glass would be slid behind metal panels out of our view.

    My two cents.

They're definitely not glass. Remember the scene in the car yard where the windows of all the cars in the yard shatter from the high frequency pitch except for Bumblebee's?

Major hand to you, my friend. :)

As for the windows... apparently the "realistic" designs and transformations of the movieverse have solved this problem by... um... yeah. Nice job.

I had heard awhile ago that it was possible for scientists to create a type of transparent metal that looks like glass but has the strength of the original metal.

Or those windows could be plastic.
