Looks like there’s a new D&D action game coming to XBLA and PSN in the spring.
You guys will get to experience my 18 Charisma in person now.

I wonder how much character customization there will be.

    I'm so there, sir!

Very few times I coin this phrase, but "I came". Not because of the graphics, or the Dungeons and Dragons (though that is part of it). No, it's because I have been wanting a good fantasy coop game for a while, and this looks to fit the bill.

This is seriously awesome news. And I read the story more carefully, after getting over the hype of the trailer. This could be the best use of "episodic" content. Mini Modules released every couple of months which add to the story. Epic and genius if done well. Great news bearing, buddy.

I really do hope that the game comes in 'modules' to complete the D&D experience.
But I wonder if they can do that and not fall into the video game 'power reset' trap.

What I mean by that is games are designed for the player to be at a low level in early stages and a high level for later stages.
If you consider the Devil May Cry series, the Dante I played at the end of DMC 3 was way more powerful than the Dante I played at the beginning of DMC 4.

What was fun about the pen and paper D&D modules was carrying my leveled up characters to new modules.
It would be hard to design a new module that wouldn't be a complete cake-walk if you were allowed to import your powered-up character.

Maybe they could do like Oblivion and have a sliding difficulty or something.
But I suspect that new modules will reset your character to level 1.

I also suspect that I spend way too much time thinking about these things.

Whether that kind aof plan is successful or not will ultimately come down to how much they charge per module. That Penny Arcade RPG did the episodic thing but wasn't really a massive success because the high cost of each ep($20 a pop?) made it a really hard sell.

Anyway, this looks like it might be a fun game. Definitely have to try the demo atleast.
