Okay. A few months ago my wife decided to quit her crappy job and go to grad school to obtain her Masters in Special Education and get her teaching certificate. (Her BA is in Psychology.) It was going to make things tough financially, but in the end it would be better for our family. I supported the decision 100%. Unfortunately, my crappy job wasn't going to be enough to pay all the bills and keep the status quo going... so when our lease was up we moved in with her parents (rent-free) and made a bunch of other cuts. All was well. Drastically different, but still cool. Then my hours were cut. Then my crappy car had a series of crappy problems. Expensive problems. Driver side window shattering and falling in my lap while driving to work on the freeway type problems. Yeah. And of course PLENTY of financial problems. *sigh* The cool things is, though, that through all the crap we've really been growing. We're both leaening so much about how God has a plan and He always provides what we need. Whether it be money to cover bills we can't possibly cover otherwise (my parents are saints!) or a simple fun night to play games, or the entire point of this rambling... a new (to me) Dell Laptop. Yeah. Our laptop's monitor died on us on Monday. Really craptacular timing as Vic is just starting her second semester and really needs it. There's no way we could afford to repair or replace it. Not for awhile at least. That's where the whole friend thing comes in. Vic simply made a post on Facebook yesterday mentioning the issue and asking people to pray about it. Well, our friend Ryan saw the message. I was over his house tonight for our bi-weekley men's Bible Study. Well, it turned in to a pizza party for one of our mutual friends from church who is going to be moving in a little over a week. We all just sat around and BSed. At about 9:30 or so as I'm saying my goodbyes Ryan just says "oh, by the way i was able to get you a computer." HUH!? Yeah. He just saw Belly's post and got a computer for us. No charge. No strings attached. He said it was an extra just lying around at work... he asked his boss if he could give it to a friend in need and WHAM! That simple. We needed it and without asking or hesitating he got it. And it's nice, too. A couple years old, but looks and works like brand spanking new. Just totally blew my mind. It's a few hours later and it's still blown. We're not even really that close! He and his wife go to our church, he's one of the worship leaders and leader of our Bible Study. We get together and hang out sometimes, and have a blast, but really... People can just be so amazing. Really. Awesome. (Sorry for the longness and rambling, but I'm just... wow. So much to take in.)
Thanks! We're hanging in there. And Vic's doing amazingly well in class, so it's all totally worth it!
Things like this restore my faith in humanity bit by bit. People can certainly be amazing, and it's definitely good to have friends. What a great person!! I'm glad someone helped you two. Help can certainly come in the most unexpected fashions.
Dude that's awesome. I wish i had friends who did stuff like that. Maybe humanity isn't all sour and tainted afterall. God always rewards those through the rough patches. Dude you need to do something for your friend like give him like season tickets to whatever the hell sports he likes....or a pony. I'd give something back.
buy that good man a cake You guys are extremely blessed and God does have a plan for you. you're in my Prayers
