Yea there's no rain on the radar right now, crosses fingers. My house is going to wash away if it keeps this up.

wow, we are getting tons of rain in texas right now but I doubt it will be as bad as that.

On a side note, I love texas. Any storm can get you out of work/school.....

And it was in the year of 2009 that the seas drank fair Atlanta.

    Hail, lost city of Atlanta!

This thread has been way funnier than the average conscience should allow.

But seriously, I hope the waters recede soon and everyone stays safe. Theres probably going to be massive financial damage already, though.

And to think that not so long ago, a lake in the Atlanta area had less water than my goldfish bowl.

We have gotten a lot of rain recently, but i doubt it is as much as the rest of the south.

Hell, still think that our farmers are gonna be harvesting boiled peanuts straight from the ground for the National Peanut Festival this year.

Yea last year the Governor had a prayer session for more rain. That's how bad the drought was. The water levels were so bad we were fighting other states for it. Now we have too much. Irony is a harsh mistress.

I work for Gwinnett County Public schools. We had to close school Monday and it was cancelled for today as well. I think they even used a few of the schools as shelters for the people displaced by the flooding. It was crazy driving to work at 6 am yesturday morning, my car nearly hydroplaned 3 times on Hamilton Mill Rd (for those who don't know it's a high road with steep dropoffs that goes over I-85) not very many low lying areas on the part fo the road that I had to drive on so it was a little scary.

Our Superintendent made the call to cancel school at about 830 Monday morning, after having made an earlier call to delay it an hour and a half about an hour earlier. By this point children were starting to shwo up because of parents not bothering to watch the news, and employees were showing up for work. I made 6 phones calls telling my underlings not to come in and waited for the teachers and dozen or so students to leave and locked the building up and went home.
